We’re looking forward to welcoming our second child in [name_u]February[/name_u] and have completely come to a standstill on names! Our first daughter’s name is [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] so would like something to compliment it.
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I have very different name styles and finding [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]’s name was really difficult! I prefer more traditional names but my husband likes modern…
So far I like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] but my husbands set on [name_u]Sky[/name_u] (which I’m not a fan of).
We’d rather not have a name ending in a as feel like it’ll be too much with her sisters name.
So thinking maybe ie or y ending names.
And anything beginning with S is off the table (our surname begins with S and both myself and my husband have S first names!).
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
My first thought when I read your first daughters name was [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. It’s a sweet, fresh yet sophisticated classic, just like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
So reading that you like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] makes it seem all the more perfect!
Evelyn [name_u]Sky[/name_u] nicknamed [name_f]Evie[/name_f] would be my pick for you. You get a solid, traditional first name to match your daughter’s with a nickname you love, and [name_u]Sky[/name_u] in the middle is another short, sweet nature name like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
I also really like the suggestion of [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] springs to mind too? It’s a modern Cornish name with an old-fashioned sound, and a lovely natural meaning (elm tree).
I don’t usually like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], but I really agree with [name_f]Katinka[/name_f], that would be great with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]!
I love [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]! [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is cute, but kind of nick-namey & so popular. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is popular too, but more in a classic way & less in a trendy way. I don’t think that another ‘a’ ending name would be that terrible. Probably another ‘ia’ ending name would be a bit over kill, but something two syllables like [name_f]Greta[/name_f] or [name_f]Nora[/name_f] maybe?
Thank you so much all. Some great suggestions so I’ll rattle through them and see if we get anywhere!
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is lovely but it’s my mums name so we can’t go with it.
Amelia and [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
Hmm so -ie/y ending, no S beginning (doesn’t that preclude [name_u]Sky[/name_u]? haha), no -a ending, pairs well with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]… (I’m assuming also short?)
Evie - I love this name! It totally works with what you’re looking for.
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] - Really common or so I hear, but similar to [name_f]Evie[/name_f] with a lot of options for longer names if you want
[name_f]Dawn[/name_f] - I guess [name_u]Sky[/name_u] made me think of this one, no -ie ending though
[name_f]Gracie[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] “[name_f]Junie[/name_f]”
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Brie[/name_f] - ok it’s literally cheese but maybe…
[name_f]Zoey[/name_f] / [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lainey[/name_f] - love this!
[name_f]Hailey[/name_f]
[name_f]Katie[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivi[/name_f] - So lively!
