I’m almost 6 months pregnant. We’re not sure what we’re having but if it’s a girl. The middle name isn’t feeling right. I have a three syllable first name [name_m]Rune[/name_m] Bardou as a second middle.
When you hear the word/ name ‘[name_m]Rune[/name_m]’ what do you think of?
Im aware of the Runescape connection, not a huge gamer. I’m more of a history nerd so I go to the actually lettering.
The middle name we had picked out, Psalm, is just too sweet for the little one that’s already having “boxing matches” her/his dad already.
What do you picture a [name_m]Rune[/name_m] as? Mysterious? [name_m]Little[/name_m] spunkier that a sweet Psalm? Handful?
I think of runes themselves when I hear [name_m]Rune[/name_m]. Also, norse mythology, shamanism, witches a little bit, and generally the whole Nordic region.
I can’t picture [name_m]Rune[/name_m] (pronounced how you would pronounce it in English) on a person, to me its like naming your child letter. I know its used in certain parts of Scandanavia for boys, so I think if its a boy you could get away with it, but its also pronounced differently.
I actually love [name_m]Rune[/name_m] as a middle. I think about the runes, not the game (I am not a gamer, so…). It’s lovely, spunky and a bit mysterious at the same time. I like it better than Psalm.
I like it as a middle, more so than Psalm actually. To me, it is more suited to a boy as a first name but I think it works fine on a girl too, especially in the middle spot. I actually know a baby Runa - it’s a Scandinavian name, and I think it’s lovely. I also love [name_u]Rue[/name_u] for a girl, but the meaning oputs a lot of people off.
The vibe I get from [name_m]Rune[/name_m] is sort of rugged, strong, kind of primal.
I can see it working in the middle spot, which I think is a fantastic place for parents to use out-there names like this. However, my hold up with [name_m]Rune[/name_m] is that it can come out sounding like Ruin, which would be unfortunate.
When I was little someone in my extended family actually dated a woman named [name_m]Rune[/name_m]. I’m not sure if that’s how it was spelled but that’s the way it was pronounced. She was pretty alternative, a little rugged and edgy, so I can see it on a spunky little girl.
I like it as a middle! I too have witchy associations with it but it’s also a sweet sounding name. It makes me laugh as a first name a little bit because of the character [name_m]Rune[/name_m] on [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls.
I think [name_m]Rune[/name_m] is an awesome middle name. It’s easily pronounceable with an interesting meaning (ancient runes are pretty cool in my opinion). I don’t like Psalm at all, but [name_m]Rune[/name_m] is lovely.
