Running out of gender-neutral names for my Sims

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! When I first started playing The [name_m]Sims[/name_m], I decided that the couple I’d created would give their kids gender-neutral names, and it went on from there. The first few names I picked all started with R, and while it wasn’t initially a deliberate choice, it ended up being part of the ~family naming tradition.~ So far I have…

[name_f]Gen[/name_f] 1: [name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] & [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]

[name_f]Gen[/name_f] 2: [name_u]Riley[/name_u]’s kid, [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]’s kid, [name_u]Rey[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
(Yes, it did occur to me only just now that it sounds like they named their kids after each other, especially since [name_u]Riley[/name_u]’s husband just-so-happened to be named [name_u]Ray[/name_u])
(But if you must know, it would be more accurate to claim that [name_u]Rey[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] was named after both [name_u]Rey[/name_u] from [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars and [name_m]Ty[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] from Avatar: the Last Airbender)

[name_f]Gen[/name_f] 3: [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]’s kids, [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u]

[name_f]Gen[/name_f] 4: [name_u]Rory[/name_u]’s kids, [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Raven[/name_u]

[name_f]Gen[/name_f] 5: [name_u]River[/name_u]’s kids, ???

…So yeah, it’s super matchy-matchy, but hey, they’re fictional. I know I’ve kind of created a trap for myself by sticking to such a narrow aesthetic – especially with all the names having the same first letter – but I don’t want to just start picking entirely random names, either. I’d try to explain what kind of name I’m looking for, but I think the list does a better job of speaking for itself. I will specify that while the names “[name_m]Roman[/name_m]” and “[name_u]Reagan[/name_u]” are clearly well-suited to the pattern I have going, I’m not a fan of location names and even less a fan of the former president in question.

Anyway, I’d be happy to hear some suggestions! The only part I’m 100% committed to is that I don’t want any of the names to be gender-specific. (This is my fantasy family, they are queer as all get-out, and their precious babies will not be beholden to the constraints of binary gender norms foisted upon them at birth, thankyouverymuch!)

Thanks in advance for any assistance you’re willing to offer as I face this extremely low-stakes dilemma.

I have a few names. Lots of them tend to be less-than-unisex but I have both seen them on all kinds of people and I think they would be good on pretty much anyone.

Rebel
[name_u]Reggie[/name_u]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]/Reece/Reese
[name_u]Ridley[/name_u]/Ripley
[name_u]Ronnie[/name_u]
[name_u]Ryan[/name_u]
[name_u]Ryder[/name_u]

Almost all of these are “traditionally masculine” names but again I think they totally work as unisex names.

Rosen and [name_u]Reese[/name_u] came to mind. Maybe [name_u]Regan[/name_u] instead of [name_u]Reagan[/name_u]?

You’ve had a lot of good gender-neutral R names suggested already.

But have you considered switching the letter to open up more possibility? I can see why you enjoy sticking with the theme but I think there’s a way you could do it by sticking to the water theme of [name_u]River[/name_u]’s name. Perhaps they decide to start a new era of letters using their water a theme for [name_u]River[/name_u]’s kids, and then those kids can move on with a new letter for the next 5 gens.

Lake and [name_m]Loch[/name_m]
[name_u]Bay[/name_u] and [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] and [name_u]Shore[/name_u]
[name_u]Rain[/name_u] and [name_m]Reef[/name_m] (oh oops :joy:)

I really like that water theming idea! Consider:
Fjord and Fen (a fen is a type of wetland)
Marsh and Marin
Sea could be a sibling for Storm or Shore
Tide and Tempest
Cove and Cascade

Thank you all so much for the lovely suggestions! I came thiiis close to settling on “[name_u]Rio[/name_u]” and “[name_u]Rain[/name_u]” for [name_u]River[/name_u]’s kids, but it was just so cutesy I couldn’t take it. (Plus the surname is [name_u]Winslow[/name_u], and I kinda hated the sound of “[name_u]Rio[/name_u] [name_u]Winslow[/name_u].”)

Anyway, I think I’m going to go with [name_m]Rami[/name_m], [name_m]Rolly[/name_m], and [name_u]Rue[/name_u]. (Yep, “[name_m]Rolly[/name_m]” is a total rip-off of “[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u].” I don’t like location names, but it sounds great and I like the simpler spelling anyway.)

…And thanks to you all, I have a great list of names to draw from for the next few generations! As with “Rami” and “Rolly,” the ones that weren’t suggested directly I came up with by fiddling around with the names you did suggest. Here’s what I’ve got:

[name_u]Ronnie[/name_u]
[name_u]Ryan[/name_u]
[name_u]Ridley[/name_u]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Rosen[/name_u]
[name_m]Rolan[/name_m]
[name_f]Roz[/name_f]
