[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! When I first started playing The [name_m]Sims[/name_m], I decided that the couple I’d created would give their kids gender-neutral names, and it went on from there. The first few names I picked all started with R, and while it wasn’t initially a deliberate choice, it ended up being part of the ~family naming tradition.~ So far I have…
[name_f]Gen[/name_f] 1: [name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] & [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_f]Gen[/name_f] 2: [name_u]Riley[/name_u]’s kid, [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]’s kid, [name_u]Rey[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
(Yes, it did occur to me only just now that it sounds like they named their kids after each other, especially since [name_u]Riley[/name_u]’s husband just-so-happened to be named [name_u]Ray[/name_u])
(But if you must know, it would be more accurate to claim that [name_u]Rey[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] was named after both [name_u]Rey[/name_u] from [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars and [name_m]Ty[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] from Avatar: the Last Airbender)
[name_f]Gen[/name_f] 3: [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]’s kids, [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Gen[/name_f] 4: [name_u]Rory[/name_u]’s kids, [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Raven[/name_u]
[name_f]Gen[/name_f] 5: [name_u]River[/name_u]’s kids, ???
…So yeah, it’s super matchy-matchy, but hey, they’re fictional. I know I’ve kind of created a trap for myself by sticking to such a narrow aesthetic – especially with all the names having the same first letter – but I don’t want to just start picking entirely random names, either. I’d try to explain what kind of name I’m looking for, but I think the list does a better job of speaking for itself. I will specify that while the names “[name_m]Roman[/name_m]” and “[name_u]Reagan[/name_u]” are clearly well-suited to the pattern I have going, I’m not a fan of location names and even less a fan of the former president in question.
Anyway, I’d be happy to hear some suggestions! The only part I’m 100% committed to is that I don’t want any of the names to be gender-specific. (This is my fantasy family, they are queer as all get-out, and their precious babies will not be beholden to the constraints of binary gender norms foisted upon them at birth, thankyouverymuch!)
Thanks in advance for any assistance you’re willing to offer as I face this extremely low-stakes dilemma.
