Running out of time to pick a name

I am due with a baby girl [name_f]October[/name_f] 18th…My husband and I have been stuck on two names for MONTHS.

I am thinking at this point we should maybe choose a third name.

Can you help us decide between [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] or [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] and why you like or do not like either name or if you think we should choose a 3rd name at this point.

I like the meaning and initials of [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] and that is not that common and also that it is a biblical name. I also like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] because it could have cute nicknames and it’s not that common.

Thanks for your help!

Personally I like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. I believe it flows better and is aboslutely cute. Neither name is very common so there shouldn’t be concern there. I just think that [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] has so much history and not only fits a cute little girl but also an adult. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is fine, but not really my style. It seems almost too old fashioned and seems to fit a young child better. That is just my opinion.

I really like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. It is so cute and I find the biblical meaning of it just great. If you are worried about Nicknames, [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] has some too. [name_f]MiMi[/name_f], NiNi, [name_f]Mia[/name_f].

I like both [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] (and never before noticed how many letters/sounds the two have in common!) about equally, so either way, you can’t go wrong. They are both lovely names.

They both have positive meanings (pleasantness vs. fair), and while [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is significantly higher on the popularity charts (#77 vs. #219), neither feels common or over-used (at least not to me).

It seems that you slightly prefer [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]…you mentioned liking that it’s biblical, and that you prefer the initials.

I think adding a third choice will only add to your indecision.

I personally prefer [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. If I were you, I’d wait until she was born and see which suits her best. They’re both lovely. Good luck deciding!

[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is beautiful. I could even see calling her by her full name because it flows so well

As far as popularity is concerned, it depends - in [name_m]Christian[/name_m] families [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is very popular b/c it’s biblical (as stated above), at least in the UK. I agree with the majority of posters - [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is beautiful. For me, [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] offsets the [name_u]Jean[/name_u] better than [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] does and creates a playful yet down-to-earth combination.

[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]!

I actually knew a woman named [name_f]Norma[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] who went by both names and it was a great combo!

A vote for [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]!

Both are lovely. I prefer [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].

[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]! I love this name! My stepdaughter has a little sister named [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u], she goes by Nae Nae mostly. Plus I think [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] sounds better with [name_u]Jean[/name_u] than [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] does.

[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is gorgeous!

[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]! Both names are lovely and I don’t think you can go wrong here, but I just love [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. It’s beautiful.

i love naomi!

[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] flows best, in my opinion. It feels soft, beautiful, and delicate. But [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] also flows well, and I feel like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] sounds like a stronger name. The name of a woman who is fierce, independent, and unique.

Both are beautiful names. I would choose [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] over [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] has a very soft sound, and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] feels a little more balanced between soft and strong, somehow. But that is just a subjective way to choose between two really lovely names. Maybe you can wait to meet your baby girl at this point and see which name suits her best. I think both [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] are beautiful at any age!

Thanks everyone, I am going to take your advice and wait till we see her. It’s great to know everyone likes both names!!

My daughter is named [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] So I am obviously biased but I love her name. She is almost 4 now and we still call her by both names alot. It just flows so well and has so much spunk. I also love the timelessness of [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. It was always a fav of ours. Best of [name_m]Luck[/name_m]! [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is very pretty too!

I much prefer [name_f]Naomi[/name_f].

I immediately think of the Shrek movie when I hear [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].

I love them both. Great choices. I’d go with [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] if popularity doesn’t bother you. If it does, you mentioned you like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] because its biblical, keep in mind that the circles you might run in, churches, christian schools, etc are more likely to have [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]'s than the national ranking will portray. If you’re wanting something you’re less likely to hear on other kids, I’d go with [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u].
