Hello! Our baby girl is due next Friday and we have yet to choose her name! We only just found out it was a girl and we didn’t want to choose a name before we knew the gender and now we’re stuck! We both agree on two syllable names with stress on the first syllable (our favourites are currently [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_f]Amy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f]). I love sweet lovely names, which is why I’m drawn to them. My husband just thinks it fits our surname best. Which one of these names would you choose for baby [name_m]Oswald[/name_m]? Which other names would you suggest?
Ps: First kid, but we have a dog named [name_f]Maebh[/name_f] If that helps in any way.
Out of those I prefer [name_f]Lila[/name_f] but that is also my daughters name so I am completely biased. But out of those I just think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is the prettiest.
I really like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] - it’s a beautiful name. I also really like the spunkiness of [name_f]Anya[/name_f]. I think those are the top two names for you
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]! I think it is beautiful, sweet, and absolutely lovely. Other ideas:
[name_f]Irene[/name_f]: One of the sweetest, most melodic names out there, and such a lovely classic.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]: An evocative nature name, both exquisite and gentle.
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]: Rhythmic, a little quirky, and so, so lovely. I think the “o” makes it even gentler than [name_f]Lila[/name_f].
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]: Evokes such a warm, lively feeling and shares sounds with [name_f]Anya[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f].
[name_f]Cara[/name_f]: This name is sweet and lively in sound and melody, and also means “friend.” Another choice more similar to [name_f]Lila[/name_f] could be the gently glowing [name_f]Lara[/name_f].
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]: Incredibly gentle and vintage, and it picks up on all three of your top names. Such a beautiful name. For something more popular, [name_f]Clara[/name_f]?
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] these suggestions helped, and best of luck with your choice.
SO UNDERUSED! And I didn’t think twice about suggesting it because I love it so much. Thank you! My favourites from your suggestions are [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f]!
Thank you SO much! Three of these I wouldn’t use for a few reasons, not related to the name at all. [name_f]Irene[/name_f] is the name of a dear childhood friend. Though nothing happened that made me not like her or the name, we were friends in a time of my life I wish I could forget and it kinda makes the name stand in a weird place for me. [name_f]Cara[/name_f] is lovely, one of my friends had a little [name_f]Kara[/name_f] a little over a year ago. The reason I wouldn’t choose it it’s because my first language is portuguese, and though [name_f]Cara[/name_f] means “dear”, it also means “face” in portuguese and I just can’t see myself naming my kid [name_f]Cara[/name_f]. As for [name_f]Lara[/name_f], one of my favourite names ever, the only reason it didn’t make the list is because of the proximity to [name_f]Clara[/name_f] (probably my favourite name ever), being a [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] Who fan, having a little [name_f]Lara[/name_f] [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] of my own would sound a bit weird considering my favourite character on the show was [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_m]Oswald[/name_m]. It just stands too close and I don’t think naming my kid in a fangirl manner would be the best thing to do. I love [name_f]Alma[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] the most, [name_f]Lola[/name_f] makes me think of [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and I love the [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] stories. They’re both extremely sweet and lovely. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions and opinions on each name!
