I have always loved it but yeah, seems like some really don’t like the associations😅 Maybe as a NN for Russel or something?
It is unfortunately strongly associated with a controversial person in the US. Trying to forget that association and just think of the sound of the name itself, Im on the fence. It almost reminds me of [name_u]River[/name_u], like a rushing river which is pleasant, but then it also reminds me of “gush” which is unpleasant. I also think of the gold rush which is kinda neat! I much prefer [name_m]Russell[/name_m] and I personally wouldn’t ever use [name_m]Rush[/name_m] just due to the controversial person as I’m American but I mean if you like it, pinpointing one person is kinda silly. At some point, someone with any name can make the news and really give a name a bad reputation. I think it being so uncommon makes it harder though! I think as a middle it could work!
[name_m]Rush[/name_m] makes me think of rushes first. I’m not familiar with the band, and I don’t know anything about [name_m]Rush[/name_m] Limbaugh (I’m not American). I can see the name working, though I don’t love it myself.
I’m American and [name_m]Rush[/name_m] Limbaugh was my first thought, however I’ve never really listened to his show, and now since he’s dead I feel like that reference is going to fade (probably quickly) with future generations
It just makes me think of the hairdressing chain and rush hour
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought is “Sugar Rush” which is that feeling you get from eating too much sugar, but also the name of the fictional video game and ending credit theme song from the Disney Movie Wreck-It Ralph.
[name_m]Rush[/name_m] as a name is okay to me!
As an American I say no.
I agree, I think of [name_m]Rush[/name_m] Limbaugh, who was a controversial political commentator. But the name [name_m]Rush[/name_m] isn’t like [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f] in that the name is so distinct, it can really only be used once. So, while RL is my first thought, [name_m]Rush[/name_m] is a name that can work independently of him.
Having said all of that, I don’t like the meaning of Rush. [name_u]Dash[/name_u] for some reason is cuter, but [name_m]Rush[/name_m] doesn’t seem as charmingly cheeky. It also seems “slushy” in its sound, if that makes sense.
I think it’s cute. I never heard of [name_m]Rush[/name_m] Limbaugh so I didn’t even make the connection. Alot of people use word names so I don’t see anything wrong with it.
I’m in the US and I honestly had completely forgotten about the Namberry description until reading it just now. So overall I don’t really have any negative associations with it. I met a kid named [name_m]Rush[/name_m] once in college. He’s the only [name_m]Rush[/name_m] I’ve ever personally met or heard of.
I think it could definitely work! It’s just nms.
