I recently read a book and one of the side characters was named Ryeson. I really like the name and the uniqueness of it. The only problem is that their is a poison called ricin pronounced the same way. Would this be a useable name or is it bad to name you’re kid a name that sounds like a type of poison?

Ricin was my first association. Not sure how usable this name is, but I do like the sound (and the nickname [name_m]Rye[/name_m]).
Ricin was my first thought and it certainly isn’t a pleasant association. My other main thought was that it sounds extremely trendy, though that may be because of all of the -son names that seem to be on the rise.
Not a huge fan but I do like the nn [name_m]Rye[/name_m].
I do not like the association. Also I would have trouble seeing that on a grown man. It’s a shame though. There are plenty of names that sound wonderful but have atrocious meanings. I’ve seen moms on here naming their little girls [name_f]Melina[/name_f]. It sounds so sweet, but “[name_f]Melina[/name_f]” is the medical term for bloody diarrhea.
My first thought wasn’t the poison but, “and his brother, Pumpernickelson.”
