No, not [name]Isabella[/name], [name]Sabella[/name]. I love this name. Nameberry doesn’t have a write up on it. I know a girl with the name [name]Sabella[/name]… and it is a great choice. What do you think?
I’ve never heard of it and that together with NB not having a write-up on it makes me worried that it’s a modern creation name, which I don’t like. That said, I do like the sound of it. I have long LOVED the Spanish pronunciation of [name]Isabella[/name] (EE-sa-[name]BELL[/name]-a … sort of; I’m terrible with prn descriptions), but we could never use that because we have no Spanish lines whatsoever, so it would be very weird. But [name]Sabella[/name] gives you that same beautiful sound without the pretension … as long as I could be sure it wasn’t made up.
I feel the same way about [name]Sabella[/name] as I do about [name]Abrielle[/name]/Abriella. It just feels like [name]Isabella[/name] ([name]Gabrielle[/name]/[name]Gabriella[/name]) with the first letter chopped off. It does have a pretty sound, but I’m partial to [name]Isabella[/name]. I do love the [name]Sybil[/name]-variant, [name]Sybella[/name], though. I think either [name]Sybella[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name] would be a great choice, but [name]Sabella[/name] seems like a middle-man choice that doesn’t quite hold the appeal of either for me. Sorry.
It doesn’t do anything for me, sorry. It reminds me of Salmonella. I know it’s a surname- like in [name]Ernie[/name] [name]Sabella[/name]- but I don’t think it has much of a history of usage as a first name.
ETA: I did find a Nameberry page for it, though. [name]Said[/name] it was a variant of [name]Isabel[/name] and [name]Sable[/name]. Behindthename.com has it as well, listed as a short form of [name]Isabella[/name], so I think pp is spot on about comparing it with [name]Abrielle[/name] & [name]Brielle[/name].
The girl with the name that I know is of Italian descent… I am pretty sure [name]Sabella[/name] is the Italian form of [name]Isabella[/name] but not 100% certain about that. I think the name is refreshing while [name]Isabella[/name] is getting boring to me. I don’t think it sounds made up at all… and I am usually very traditional/conservative with names.
