Sadie as nn for Seraphina?

If [name]Sadie[/name] is a nn for [name]Sarah[/name], does it also work as a nn for [name]Seraphina[/name] because the sound of the name [name]Sarah[/name] is inside [name]Seraphina[/name], or no because [name]Sarah[/name]/[name]Seraphina[/name] are completely seperate names? Thanks for feedback

I’ve always wondered this, too. [name]Sadie[/name] was always my favorite nn option for [name]Seraphina[/name], but I was always worried it was way too out-there! I’d love to see what everyone else thinks.

I always thought [name]Sadie[/name] was an odd nickname for [name]Sarah[/name] to begin with, so I am not a fan of using it for [name]Seraphina[/name] either.

I really like [name]Sadie[/name], but I think it’s kind of a stretch for [name]Seraphina[/name]. You can easily get to [name]Sera[/name] from [name]Seraphina[/name], but the [name]Sadie[/name] nn is another step removed from [name]Sera[/name]/[name]Sarah[/name]/[name]Sara[/name]. It seems like a nickname for a nickname, you know?

Another great nickname for [name]Seraphina[/name] is Seri. Have you considered that? Also, [name]Sadie[/name] could totally work as a stand-alone name.

I think it works, but it is a stretch. I like [name]Sera[/name], Seri and Fi as well, and they are less out there.

Oh, I definitely think [name]Sadie[/name] works as a nickname for [name]Seraphina[/name]. I love both names and even though it’s a bit of a stretch, it’s not outrageous (and even if it were, so what?) and it I think it makes [name]Seraphina[/name] a little more accessible if that makes sense.

[name]Love[/name] your kids’ names, by the way. I have [name]Jude[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] on my list.

I think it works. I’m not under the impression that nicknames have to be strictly based on the full name. Round-about nicknames are ok by me.

This. Especially since the [name]Sera[/name] in [name]Seraphina[/name] is nothing like the name [name]Sarah[/name].

I agree. I’ve never understood where [name]Sadie[/name] came from.

I don’t think it’ll work for [name]Seraphina[/name] either.

I didn’t even know [name]Sadie[/name] was a possible nn for [name]Sarah[/name], and it doesn’t make much sense to me. If you want to call her [name]Sadie[/name], you should just name her [name]Sadie[/name]. [name]Seraphina[/name]'s such a pretty name, but if you call her [name]Sadie[/name], there’s basically no tie and there’s really no reason to have used the name in the first place.
