[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] seems to be our top choice for our daughter’s first name. We started considering it before learning
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] was once a nickname for [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], which is my name!
I’d never known this, so am thinking it won’t be something everyone else knows. But is it odd to share your name with your daughter in a way?
Men have juniors all the time, so no I don’t think it’s wierd. I also never would have known [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] came from [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]! I say, go for it.
I was thinking that, too… men do it all the time! And it is a cute connection. One that she might like when she’s young, and hate when she’s a teenager!
They don’t sound similar enough imo to be an issue, and also, I think it’s sweet that she’d have that connection to your name [name_f]My[/name_f] middle name can mean [name_f]Darling[/name_f], so I’ve been tempted to use [name_f]Darling[/name_f] as a middle
I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is a fairly well known nick name for [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] so I think people would probably assume you were naming her after yourself. I think they’re different enough in sound though that they work and it’s a sweet link -she’ll have her own name and share something with you
I think it’s cute! Yes, one is a traditional nickname of the other, but [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] does have a history of use as a name on it’s own so I don’t think it would surprise people. You both get your own names, and get to share a name connection at the same time.
I would assume a [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] with a mom named [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] was named after her mom, but I would love it and find the connection really sweet. The names are so distinct sounding that there would be no issue with it.
As a name-nerd I know the connection, but I don’t think the general populace would even realize. I think its a super cute sweet connection for mother and daughter and sounds nice together without being overly matchy.
I would never know [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] was derived from [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]. They have totally different vibes. Perfectly sweet. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]! [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] as a middle name not that you asked [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]
I only know [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is a nn for [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] because I have been a name nerd my whole life! Also, nothing wrong with giving her a name connected to you, that is beautiful. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom named me after her maiden name and I am very proud that my name has history and meaning. Also, I just love [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]!
I don’t think it’s weird! Men have juniors all the time, as others have said. I also think they don’t sound similar, which is the issue I typically have with parents naming their kids after themselves. This would be a sweet connection imo.
Sadie is still a nn for [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]. But it’s fine for moms to name their daughters after their names. [name_f]Heaven[/name_f] knows men have done that for centuries.
