Sadie vs Zara - thoughts on middle names and sibset

[name]Hi[/name] - I’m about 4 weeks out from the birth of our little girl and I’m not 100% sure on a name yet, I’m having trouble finding one I love that I feel suits a baby and suits a grown up!

Before I was pregnant, my number 1 girls name was [name]Xanthe[/name]. But since finding out we’re having a girl, I’ve gone off it for some reason, I don’t even know why!

I then decided on [name]Fern[/name], but my DH has vetoed it unfortunately.

However, I think we may be down to two names: [name]Zara[/name] (his suggestion) and [name]Sadie[/name] (my suggestion). My main reason for not absolutely loving [name]Zara[/name] is that it is quite popular (i’m in Australia - it is top 30 here) but I was coming around to it and then my DH said he was having second thoughts (mostly because of the association with the fashion store!). He’s not real sure about [name]Sadie[/name], but thinks he may come around to it. [name]One[/name] of the reasons that I like it is because it is something like #350 in popularity over here - only 20 born in this state last year.

A couple of other names we were chucking about were [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Cora[/name].

Our DS is [name]Wesley[/name], nn [name]Wes[/name]. I would like something that works with with this to a certain extent, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be the exact same style.

As for middle names, I’m thinking:

[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Fern[/name] (DH is probably happy to have it in the middle, just not first)
[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] (after my grandmother)
[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Louise[/name] (my middle name)

[name]Zara[/name] [name]Fern[/name]
[name]Zara[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Zara[/name] [name]Louise[/name]

Thoughts, advice, other ideas nameberries? Many thanks!

[name]Zara[/name] [name]Louise[/name] is gorgeous, that’s the one I’d go with.

I really love [name]Saskia[/name], I’ve only ever met one girl by that name.
[name]Saskia[/name] [name]Louise[/name]

I really love [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]- the names are gorgeous together and have a deeper meaning because of the reference to your grandmother. I am also in Australia and have only met two Sadies in the past five years. I met a [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Mabel[/name] a month ago but like [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] much more. Good luck!

[name]Sadie[/name] is to die for. [name]Love[/name] it. [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is so gorgeous. Great choice.

I really like [name]Zara[/name] and [name]Cora[/name].
[name]Zara[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is really pretty. Doesn’t it mean White [name]Pearl[/name]? Or is the spelling of [name]Zarah[/name] or Zarha for the meaning to be white? either way I think its lovely

[name]Zahra[/name] = a small white flower, in Arabic. [name]Zara[/name] is either its variant or given as an exotic form of [name]Sarah[/name].

If [name]Xanthe[/name] is off the table, my vote goes to [name]Saskia[/name]. It’s beautiful, striking and e[name]Bay[/name] to spell/pronounce. Otherwise I do like [name]Zara[/name] (perhaps retain the original H to make it a bit different?). [name]Sadie[/name] to me is old-fashioned in the uncool way, homespun and folksy.

I like [name]Zara[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]

I like [name]Saskia[/name]!

You have chosen some beautiful names.

My number one pick would be [name]Xanthe[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] because I think [name]Xanthe[/name] is such a beautiful name I would love to see somebody use it.
My second pick would be [name]Cora[/name]. [name]Cora[/name] [name]Louise[/name] is fabulous.
Out of [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Zara[/name] I like [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Louise[/name] the best.

Also, I’m a primary teacher in Australia and the only name I have taught on your list is [name]Zara[/name]. I have taught about 3 [name]Zara[/name], Zarahs and plenty of Zoes and Sarahs.

I think [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Fern[/name] and [name]Zara[/name] [name]Louise[/name] are precious. Also, you guys could maybe go with [name]Mara[/name] [name]Louise[/name]? I love the name [name]Saskia[/name]. I would love to meet a little [name]Saskia[/name]. [name]Saskia[/name] [name]Fern[/name] is beautiful.

What about a version of [name]Sadie[/name] that may combine both names you like? It means “princess”:
[name]Zadie[/name] or [name]Zaidee[/name]

I like [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] and [name]Zara[/name] [name]Fern[/name].

[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Fern[/name] sounds a bit like shady fern to me.

I think I prefer [name]Zara[/name], but [name]Sadie[/name] is also very cute and spunky.

[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]!! Because I have a [name]Pearl[/name] already and am pg with number two…[name]Sadie[/name] is on my list for a girl.

I much prefer [name]Sadie[/name] to [name]Zara[/name]! [name]Wesley[/name] & [name]Sadie[/name] are a GREAT sibset  [name]Zara[/name] sounds like it’s trying too hard to be cool, whereas [name]Sadie[/name] is a classic, yet spunky name. As for a middle, my vote would be for [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], or [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Louise[/name]! I also like both [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] and think either would go well with [name]Wesley[/name]. I like [name]Saskia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] [name]Louise[/name]!

I like [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Louise[/name]. [name]Zara[/name] is not my style. Also love [name]Xanthe[/name], but [name]Sadie[/name] fits with your son’s name better.

I like both [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Zara[/name], ([name]Sadie[/name] just a bit more) but I think I would choose [name]Sadie[/name] if I were in your position, simply because I wouldn’t want my daughter to be known as [name]Zara[/name] A. or [name]Zara[/name] S. all through primary school. My boys had two Leahs in their class last year and were convinced that the girls’ names were actually Leahbee and [name]Leah[/name]-ess, lol. [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is my favourite.
