I’m not in the US, so I’m not well placed to answer on Saffron’s usability there, but I hope you get some positive responses because [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is amazing!
I hadn’t thought of [name_m]Ronnie[/name_m] as a nickname, I love that. Saffy is also endearing. It’s nice that a [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] would have those quite different options when she was old enough to decide for herself.
Your combo ideas are really lovely! I think [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] may work slightly better, as it’s a bit of an S-heavy situation going from the last syllable in [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] to Saffron’s initial sound.
I do think [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is a pretty cool name, and it’s wearable in the US. I would personally temper it with a more classic middle to “ground it” a bit. I think the contrast actually makes [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] pop a little more. I like [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] from your list for this reason. But I think [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] are also great middles with [name_f]Saffron[/name_f].
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is a fantastic combination, too.
I would nix the nicknames, if it were up to me. [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is easy enough to say. The suggested nicknames feel like an unnecessary reach.
I like it! I can’t think of any reason why it wouldn’t be usable in the US, though I have heard different pronunciations if that would be a concern. I don’t really care for the nicknames, but I think Saffy could grow on me!
From your combos list are [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], and [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. As much as I like [name_f]Laoise[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Aisling[/name_f], and [name_f]Fiadh[/name_f], they share a few too many sounds with [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] for my personal taste.
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is lovely - a pleasing sound, a warm vibe, a great colour, a wordy, nature feel but name-y too.
Saffy is full of sass and sweetness; [name_m]Ronnie[/name_m] is cool - could be outdoorsy or sleek and confident.
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is beautiful; [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is sparkly and cool; [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is strong but sweet
I completely agree Saffron is absolutely gorgeous!
Honestly I’m also mad about Saffron she’s so bright, sparkly, summery and super fun. I like the nickname options of Saffy, Sephy + Ronnie. Saffy would be cute for a girly girl and I think Ronnie would make a cool girl nickname. A truly beautiful name that NEEDS more attention!! This post made me smile. Also I see some are saying that they don’t think Saffron works as a name or could be so daring but I think if you can use Clementine, Lavender or Marigold why not Saffron? Still I’m not sure why the name is not usable in the USA if there is similar connotations to the name Jemima I would avoid. However I’m not sure about Saffron connotations in the states. @EloiseT why is Saffron unusable in the states?
I love Saffron Maeve, Saffron Blythe, Saffron Josephine + Saffron Fiadh they are just so darn pretty.
I have Rose Christabel Saffron (used to be Story but realise my love for Saffron overtakes Story) maybe Saffron Christabel could appeal.
Not in US, but I love Saffron and have since high school (I’m practically a senior citizen). I don’t like Ronny for a girl, I would use Saff(y) or Sass(y) but try to get Saffron used as much as possible.
I think middle syllable count largely depends on the last name but I like Laoise, Blythe & Maeve best of your list. The rest repeat too much/ don’t quite work to my ear. Otherwise, I think Elise, Harriet, Mary, Genevieve, Tabitha, Elsbeth, Julia, Vera, Diana, Delphine, Meredith could all work.
I think its usable in the US. Im not crazy about Saffy but [name_m]Ronnie[/name_m] is sweet.
I like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Saffron[/name_f], [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], and [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Aisling[/name_f] best on your list (in that order).
I am in the US, and I definitely think [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is usable! A really lovely, spunky name that could suit a wide variety of people and is easy to spell and pronounce. I would love to see it used!
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites of your combos are [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], and [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Laoise[/name_f]!
In the US here and I’ve considered [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] myself. What’s kept me from using it are the different pronunciations I’ve heard. Some people put more emphasis on the first syllable and others on the last. At this point, I’m not even sure which is right. Other than that, I do think it’s usable and adorable!
I actually know one [name_f]Saffron[/name_f], she’s probably in her 60s now! I think it’s a name that works well overtime, and like other commentors have said there are some cool nickname options. It’s not my style but I think that depending what part of the US you’re in, I’m in a big city in the northeast) it’s probably pretty usable, especially in cities.
The middles are all beautiful (I think I actually prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] more than [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] Lucy), most americans wouldn’t know intuitively how to pronounce [name_f]Laoise[/name_f], [name_f]Aisling[/name_f], or [name_f]Fiadh[/name_f] but that’s a quick correction fix
tldr; go for it, saffron is lovely!
There are so many unique names out-there! I think [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is very usable. [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is very joyful, feminine, lively, bright and energetic. I really like it.
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Laoise[/name_f], [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are beautiful! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] also flows very well.
I am not in the US but I definitely think [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is usable. I actually know a girl named [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and I have always thought her name was gorgeous!
Of yours I like [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (I also really like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] Saffron)
There’s a new book series where the main character’s name is [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] (she’s a botanist in the inter-War period in [name_f]London[/name_f] and she helps solve murders where poisons/plants are involved - great series!). At first it felt a tad out there, though perfect for the character (all the characters have great names!), but after hearing it (audiobook) so much, it really grew on me and I think it would wear really well!
I am in the US and I think [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is usable - in fact, it’s on my own list! I think the only reason why people would venture to consider it “unusable” is that it’s actually quite rare here, but it’s a really nice name so there’s really no reason that it wouldn’t be usable.
I like Saffy and [name_m]Ronnie[/name_m]! I’d probably use something like Saff or Saffy myself because I like the f sound, but [name_m]Ronnie[/name_m] has a fun vintage vibe a la [name_m]Ronnie[/name_m] Spector.
