Sage or Zoe

I need help in deciding a name for baby girl due in [name_f]October[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is set on the name [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] for a middle name. I’ve loved the name [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] or [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] for years, but have recently discovered the name [name_u]Sage[/name_u], and I like it as well. Our daughter will have a second middle name [name_u]Louise[/name_u] (family name). Our last name starts with an H and is two syllables.

What sounds better?

[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]/[name_f]Zoey[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]
Or
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]

Thanks ahead for your input!

I’m leaning toward Zoe/Zoey Autumn Louise. I like Sage Autumn Louise on paper, but not as much out loud.

Both are pretty and I do like [name_u]Sage[/name_u] but [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] feels a bit wordy, so I lean toward [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u].

Both options feel great for an [name_f]October[/name_f] baby.

I vote for [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u].

[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to Nameberry, @Gineeo!

This is a really tough choice for me, because I love both your options.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was also that [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] is a bit too wordy, but with [name_u]Louise[/name_u] as the second middle I think it definitely works. [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is great — simple, sleek and surprising, but not too out there.

[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is also beautiful. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is a lot more popular than [name_u]Sage[/name_u], but it still feels strong and interesting because of that cool Z initial.

I think my vote ultimately goes to [name_u]Sage[/name_u], because it’s a bit more unexpected, but you really can’t go wrong with either of these!

Good luck :four_leaf_clover:

Hmm that is tough. Both names are beautiful but I think I like the first name [name_u]Sage[/name_u] more. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] does have a little bit better flow to me but since she will probably go by her first name most of the time I vote for [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] for an [name_f]October[/name_f] baby.

[name_u]Sage[/name_u] is one of my favorites! It sounds lovely with your combo! I don’t care much for [name_f]Zoey[/name_f], and it’s very popular where I live.

I like [name_u]Sage[/name_u], but it feels a little too word-y with [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] flows better, anyway, and I think it’s super sweet! Perhaps you could save [name_u]Sage[/name_u] for a future daughter.

I agree with this. I like [name_u]Sage[/name_u] by itself better but the flow is off. [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is much smoother.

This is a tough choice–both are great names! I would lean towards [name_f]Zoe[/name_f](y) [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] because I agree with a few of the previous commenters that [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] feels just a little bit too wordy for me. And with such a unique and meaningful pair of middle names, I wouldn’t personally be bothered by [name_f]Zoe[/name_f](y)'s popularity. Overall though, I don’t think you can go wrong here!

OP here. I agree that [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] flows better. I have two other children. This baby is a surprise baby, and at age 44 I don’t think there will be anymore. I was having a tough time finding a middle name to go with [name_u]Sage[/name_u], and then my husband said he was set on [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] other two children have popular names, so that doesn’t really bother me about [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. I put a lot of thought into my other kids middle names and the flow, but we don’t ever use them. I like giving good middle names in case they don’t like their first then they have another option. I was given two old fashioned names, and I was always a bit jealous growing up of kids who had more popular names. I really appreciate everyones opinions and compliments!

[name_u]Sage[/name_u] is a great name, but unfortunately, [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] is a bit too much for me.

Oh, I see. Well, I am always an advocate for using the name you love most, so, if [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is the name for you, then you should absolutely use it!!

If you rarely use MNs, then I would go with the one you love best.

[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is beautiful, fun, and spunky. [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] gives me a calmer, more boho vibe, especially with the double word names. Overall I’m team [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], I think it’s a fantastic combo.
