Sage Winter Wood?

We are expecting our third baby (a girl) this [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] and are pretty set on [name_u]Sage[/name_u] as the first name. I have a daughter named [name_f]Iris[/name_f] ([name_f]Sofia[/name_f]) and a son named [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] ([name_m]Andrew[/name_m]). We love the meaning of [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and like that it goes well with both [name_f]Iris[/name_f] & [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], being both a nature name like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and evocative of the [name_u]West[/name_u] as is [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m].

We’d love some middle name suggestions! Our last name is [name_m]Wood[/name_m], which makes things a bit tricky sometimes. I’m currently thinking of [name_u]Winter[/name_u] because of her due date, and how peaceful it sounds. I’d love some feedback on the name [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m]. Any other suggestions?

It’s a bit theme-y, but I like it! Downsides: [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_m]Wood[/name_m] are both one syllable, which may sound a bit abrupt (your older children’s names are both two syllables).

Although it is really pretty, I’d stay away from [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] because of its wordiness ("[name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m]" makes me think of that [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] carol about Good [name_m]King[/name_m] Wenceslas.) Your other children both have solidly name-y middles; I think that’s the best option with [name_u]Sage[/name_u], too. What are some names you like besides [name_u]Winter[/name_u]?

[name_u]Winter[/name_u]/[name_u]Christmas[/name_u] related names:
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]/[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eira[/name_f]
[name_u]Noel[/name_u]
[name_f]Neve[/name_f]
Anything that means “white” ([name_f]Bianca[/name_f], [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], really anything with “gwen” or “wen” in it)

I like [name_u]Sage[/name_u] but agree that a 2 or 3 syllable name might flow better. It does sound in nice with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] though. To be honest, I don’t care for [name_u]Winter[/name_u] paired with [name_m]Wood[/name_m].

Ideas:
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] ([name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is a good Dec name after St. [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], I think it means light)
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] (after St. [name_u]Nick[/name_u]??)

I think [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] is lovely.

I agree that [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] is a bit too many word names for me (which is saying something because I love them!) I love [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] separately, but not so much together, even without the word-surname. I also agree that a one-syllable first and last combo does tend to feel a little bit choppy. I don’t know if you are one hundred percent set on the order, but I think [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] would flow better than [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]. Some other western/nature/Christmassy ideas:

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] (I love this one because of [name_f]Clary[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u], which is used in herbal medicine. It’s like a sneaky way to get in the triple word name thing. The [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] vibe is there a la [name_f]Clara[/name_f] from the Nutcracker)
[name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] (departing from [name_u]Sage[/name_u] for a moment to try another nature name. This one is more common as a “name” name, and therefore [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] doesn’t seem as wordy as [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m])
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] (I’m normally not a fan of alliteration, but this is adorable.)
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] (not particularly Christmassy, but definitely western!)
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Jolene[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] or [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Dinah[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]

Nothing wrong with Winter, but I think something less of a word name might work better with Sage & Wood.
I love Sage, by the way, but Sage Winter Wood does leave something to be desired in my opinion.

Instead of Winter, what about Noelle / Noella (Noelle means Christmas)
Emmanuelle (Emmanuelle means God with us)
Bianca (Bianca means White)
Bronwen (Bronwen means White)
Rowena (Rowena means White)
Esther (Esther means Star, which I find lovely for wintertime)
Eira (Eira means Snow)
Eirwen (Eirwen means White as Snow)

LOVE a previous poster’s suggestion of Rosemary Winter - still herby and comforting, and perhaps Rosemary Wood flows a little nicer than Sage Wood.

I agree with the two posters above. For the sake of cohesion, it’d be nice to have a more traditional name in the middle spot. [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] is a beautiful suggestion! I also like [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f].

While it sounds nice, it’s way too wordy, imo.
I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the idea of [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m], or some other winter related, solid name-y name for a middle!

I like [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] too or [name_u]Saige[/name_u] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] still naturey but sounds less like a housing development. [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is beautiful though if you truly love it I would just use it because one day she will probably marry and could be [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] and that sounds fine.

I thinks it’s fine. I know people are saying it’s too wordy but overall [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] is a lovely combo.

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get hung up on the mn; it’s usually never used so it won’t matter in day-to-day life. Her name will be [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like that?

I’d go with a 2+ syllable fn because [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] doesn’t work. Move [name_u]Sage[/name_u] to the middle spot

I agree with the others who feel that it is too wordy, for example instead of [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] I see Wise [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m], I would much prefer [name_u]Sage[/name_u] as a middle name as I feel that the first name needs to be at least two syllables and I like the less obvious nature connection of the siblings by inserting it into the middle name spot.

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] captures the essence of [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] as the name [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] means happiness and you said that the baby will be born in the [name_u]Winter[/name_u] so I am assuming that it will around the [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] season.

Good luck.

rollo

I think [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] is a bit too themey for me personally but otherwise it’s fine. I do trip over [name_u]Winter[/name_u] a bit though. I find the flow a little off. Also [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is a name with a long historical and well known standing as a name. While [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_m]Wood[/name_m] are all word names. I might consider a mn that is more of a name-name in case this bugs your child later on in life. You can still keep with the winter theme by choosing a name like [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] etc.

FYI: [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is the [name_m]German[/name_m] word for myth.

I like it, quite a bit actually.

In theory I like it, but between all three being words, and both first and last being one syllable, I can’t like it. [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] sounds like a species of wood, and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] only adds to that image. Sorry - just my opinion.

I agree 100% with [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]. I especially love [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Natalia[/name_f].

I had to chime in since my username is WinterSage  I love this name and I don’t mind the wordiness of it but I do think [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] (as she will be known by mostly) is a little on the short side. I think [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] in a little nicer. [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] is kinda cool. When I don’t use WinterSage I use WinterRose which is also nice so maybe [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m]?

Also the suggestion of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] is beautiful. [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]? That’s lovely.

Perhaps adding a 3rd 1-syllable mn?

I think [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] would be so lovely!
