Saige?

[name_f]So[/name_f] I kinda like the name [name_m]Saige[/name_m] for a girl (I like it spelled this way, seems more name-y to me and less just like the plant. And I think it looks cute) Would it go with sisters [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] & [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]? It’s not so important that all my kids names mesh but I do think it’s fun when they do! Some other favorites for girls & boys are:

[name_f][/name_f]

girl:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Marlowe[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

boy:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Wells[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]August[/name_m]

I think [name_m]Saige[/name_m] goes great with your other kids and I prefer [name_m]Saige[/name_m] to [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f], I’m not crazy about repeat initials.

Ooh, I really like [name_m]Saige[/name_m] for you! [name_m]Gentle[/name_m] but sparky [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]!

I prefer [name_f]Sage[/name_f] generally but since you already have an unusual spelling of [name_f]Caraline[/name_f], I think [name_m]Saige[/name_m] makes sense for you. It definitely is a cool name but feels very different stylistically to me [name_f][/name_f]— super 2020s and unisex, whereas your older girls have very feminine vintage revival names. Same thing for [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] (although I do really like it). [name_m]Not[/name_m] a big deal necessarily, but just my take!

[name_f][/name_f]

Your boys’ ideas on the other hand seem more cohesive stylistically. I particularly like
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]August[/name_m] with C and M :orange_heart:

[name_m]Saige[/name_m] is unexpected but works [name_f][/name_f]. I really like it with [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]! I know an [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_m]Saige[/name_m] and she is spunky tiny and adorable!

I prefer [name_f]Sage[/name_f] spelling wise I think this just looks visually more intuitive however as you already have an unusual spelling for your first daughter I think [name_m]Saige[/name_m] definitely works. [name_m]Saige[/name_m] feels carefree, spirited and earthy. I feel [name_m]Saige[/name_m] has a pretty southern cowgirl paired with older siblings I think it works well despite being stylistically different.

[name_f][/name_f]

I think [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] is lovely and in general I prefer [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] to [name_m]Saige[/name_m] but I’m not keen on repeating sibling initials. I feel [name_f]Winslow[/name_f] could be a fun alternative to [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

For boys all three are lovely I’m drawn too [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] & [name_m]August[/name_m] for your sibling set they feel rugged, earthy and add a southern feel. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] I absolutely love this name. But [name_m]August[/name_m] probably feels most cohesive.

I like [name_m]Saige[/name_m], and I do think it works in the sibset.

I personally strongly dislike non-traditional spellings for names that are also words. Because there’s only one correct way to write “sage” as a word, I think when Sage is written as Saige as a name it ends up looking wrong and like a mistake to me? That always makes the name seem inherently much less appealing to me than the same name written “correctly”, because I can’t stop noticing that it doesn’t match the correct orthographic spelling of the word itself, and I find it really distracting!

That said, I’ve encountered Saige before so you wouldn’t be doing anything shocking with this spelling, and I think it goes very well with her sisters’ names stylistically, regardlesss of spelling!

I do like Marlowe a lot more, though! I think it’s so beautiful, charming and cool.

I agree with what @tallemaja[name_f][/name_f] says above, but I also think it does[name_f][/name_f] go with the sibset because you’ve already got offbeat versions of established names. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] but don’t like repeated initials in a set (esp if it leaves one sib on their own with a different initial).

I agree with the others re spelling (Saige over [name_f]Sage[/name_f] working with Caraline) and I prefer it to an M (or C) name, like [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f]. That said [name_f][/name_f] my brain jumped to Saggie (ie [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] to [name_m]Saige[/name_m] to Saggie). Maybe the G just jumps out, with the repeat As throughout the three.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] natural instincts for a third girl would be: [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] or [name_f]Ruby[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

But I can see a name like [name_f]Sloane[/name_f] working, so [name_m]Saige[/name_m] would too!

I really like her for you! I’ve known girls named both [name_m]Saige[/name_m] and [name_f]Sage[/name_f] and I agree that [name_m]Saige[/name_m] feels more name-y (and more feminine to me [name_f][/name_f]— which would match with [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] + Maggie). [name_m]Even[/name_m] if the names themselves aren’t 100% stylistically the same, they definitely have the same feel[name_f][/name_f] (which matters more to most non-name-nerd people you’d meet). They’re all friendly and slightly adapted from the “normal” version (Caraline not [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] not [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], and [name_m]Saige[/name_m] not Sage).

[name_f][/name_f]

Also love [name_m]August[/name_m] with your set (and potentially Saige)!

Thank you! I like the way you put it as far as the way names feel makes them cohesive. I like the warm, approachable and slightly spunky feel that my other daughters names have and I feel [name_m]Saige[/name_m] could fit that.

What would you do as a middle for [name_m]Saige[/name_m]? [name_f]My[/name_f] other girls are virtues [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_m]Promise[/name_m]. Maybe [name_m]Saige[/name_m] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]?

I like [name_m]Saige[/name_m] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]! It definitely addresses some of the ‘Saige feels too unisex’ concern and the longer, slightly frillier [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] complements [name_m]Saige[/name_m] well. :pink_heart: (Also [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_m]Promise[/name_m] is too cute!!)

I like Saige Felicity but because Saige itself is a virtue name - wise and knowing - you could even have a non-virtue for the middle, which I would do myself as I wouldn’t want a double virtue. Eg Saige Marlow?

i love Saige :herb:

we considered it for my daughter’s middle name (this spelling) and i love how spunky and tailored it feels! i think she’s lovely with :blossom: C a r a l i n e and M a g g i e :blossom: too, they all have a southern belle vibe!

i adore all the other names on your list too, but i’d say [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] and [name_m]August[/name_m] are my favorites, along with Miss [name_m]Saige[/name_m]! :hugs:
