My mom almost named my younger brother [name]Sailor[/name], but he ended up being [name]Ellery[/name]. (My dad was scared when he was little and had a lisp people would think he was saying his name was [name]Sarah[/name].) I was thinking about the name for the main character of my book I’m writing. Is it too uncommon or girly sounding? Would you name your son [name]Sailor[/name]? What do y’all think of the name?
Oh and the character is described in one of my other posts, if you care.
I think the name [name]Sailor[/name] is cute on a little boy, but I have trouble picturing a grown man called [name]Sailor[/name]. That holds me back from using it.
I love it.
I wouldn’t name my son [name]Sailor[/name], but if someone else did, I might find it cute.
I adore [name]Sailor[/name] on a boy and think it works best on one. I’d name my son [name]Sailor[/name].
I’ve seen it used for both boys and girls in my state (watching hospital websites), so I see why you’re concerned about it seeming girly. I don’t know why parents think it’s girly, though. [name]Sailor[/name] sounds all-boy to me! It does perhaps sound more little-boy than grown-man, though. I don’t like it enough to name a son [name]Sailor[/name], but I think it’s usable. [name]Just[/name] don’t name him [name]Sailor[/name] [name]Jack[/name], as I saw one set of parents named their son
I like [name]Sailor[/name], but for a girl. I wouldn`t use it though. [name]Scout[/name] is cute too, for either

I think [name]Sailor[/name] is adorable! That’s the thing though, it’s adorable. As pps have said it might not be right for a grown man, but for a character in a book I’m sure you can better judge that. I think it’s uncommon for sure, and I can see it on a girl but I don’t think it’s a girly name. I, personally, would not name my kid [name]Sailor[/name], but not because I don’t like it it’s just nms.
[name]Sailor[/name] makes me think drunken sailor.
I will always associate [name]Sailor[/name] with [name]David[/name] [name]Lynch[/name]'s film “[name]Wild[/name] at Heart” (which I love) but makes it unusable to me.
It’s cute for a little boy, but it definitely doesn’t age well [name]IMO[/name]. I can’t imagine a grown man named [name]Sailor[/name]. Sorry.
My last name is [name]Saylor[/name]… I love it!
Reminds me too much of the Japanese anime character [name]Sailor[/name] [name]Moon[/name], so I think of it as a girl name. However, maybe aubriannamorgans last name [name]Saylor[/name] would work better? Same sound, but slightly different image…
