Sally: nickname or stand-alone?

Trying to freshen up my list and have [name_f]Sally[/name_f] on my mind a lot. I love the combo [name_f]Sally[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] and wonder if [name_f]Sally[/name_f] should stand on its own or be a nickname.

What do y’all think? Would [name_f]Sally[/name_f] as a full name age well? What are some long forms which lend themselves to the nn [name_f]Sally[/name_f]?

I thibk [name_f]Sally[/name_f] on its own is fine! It’s very much in line with names like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Libby[/name_f] etc. and with a big middle like [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], it works well

[name_f]Sally[/name_f] could be a nn for

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Salome[/name_f]
[name_f]Sicily[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f]
[name_u]Sailor[/name_u]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f]

[name_f]Sally[/name_f] works perfectly on it’s own, imo. I don’t have any long forms to suggest but I second the suggestions of [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]!

I think [name_f]Sally[/name_f] is accepted as a name on its own. If I met a women called [name_f]Sally[/name_f], I’d probably think that was her full name.

If you wish to choose a longer name, I like @greyblue’s suggestions. I’d also suggest [name_f]Selena[/name_f].

Yeah definitely fine on it’s own.
I do like [name_f]Salma[/name_f]/[name_f]Selma[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sally[/name_f] however:)

[name_f]Sally[/name_f] has been used as a name on its own for ages, so I wouldn’t worry about that. I know of a judge called [name_f]Sally[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Sally[/name_f] on its own is more than fine and I would have no concerns about how it ages. There are well-known, accomplished Sallys from many generations and time periods. I’d love to see [name_f]Sally[/name_f] make a comeback. [name_f]Sally[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is great!

Definitely a stand alone! I really love it.

[name_f]Sally[/name_f] works as a stand-alone name and nickname, and is great either way. My favourite full name for [name_f]Sally[/name_f] is [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f], and I second (third?) [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] too.

[name_f]Sally[/name_f] definitely works well as a stand-alone name it’s proper spunky & retro! I think it would be adorable to have a baby [name_f]Sally[/name_f]

It’s traditionally short for [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], but I think it stands fine on its own. If [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] can, so can [name_f]Sally[/name_f]!

[name_f]Sally[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] would be really unexpected and fun! I definitely think it sounds great and would age perfectly well.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_f]Sally[/name_f] is soooo sweet. It’s one of those names that I think works fine on its own or a nn. Either way is good.

I’m probably repeating, but my favorite [name_f]Sally[/name_f] full names are [name_f]Salome[/name_f] & [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]. [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is another nice option.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

I’ve considered [name_f]Salome[/name_f] recently but am unclear on the pronunciation. [name_m]How[/name_m] are y’all saying it?

Definitely works as a stand-alone name. [name_f]Sally[/name_f] is very cute!
