I’m struck by how dweeby some of these sound to me ([name_m]Ulric[/name_m], [name_m]Cedric[/name_m], for example) and how dashing others sound ([name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_m]Frederic[/name_m], [name_m]Roderic[/name_m], [name_m]Garrick[/name_m], [name_m]Warrick[/name_m]).

Then there’s [name_m]Theodoric[/name_m], the ultimate clunker, which I inexplicably love.

Voted for [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] and Emeric, alongside most of the other voters so far :stuck_out_tongue:
I think I like the softer sounds [name_f]Ala[/name_f]- and Eme- with slightly harder -ric.
I really like [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], and [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] is my favourite way to get that. (I like [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] as well, but would really use [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] for him!)

[name_m]Ulrich[/name_m], [name_m]Warrick[/name_m] and [name_m]Garrick[/name_m] do nothing for me. [name_m]Ulrik[/name_m] is actually trendy here XP [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like the surnamey vibe of the latter two, or the War- part of [name_m]Warrick[/name_m]. I struggle with G names in general, so [name_m]Garrick[/name_m] is not for me. I also really think the double -rr- makes the names look really harsh!
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] is okay but I’m not fond of the [name_m]Ced[/name_m]- sound, same thing with Kenric where I don’t like the [name_m]Ken[/name_m]- bit.

I don’t like how Theoderic just feels like someone is being creative with a popular name, even though I typically like that sort of thing. Probably because I’m not really into [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] either. It’s also a little hard to remember that it’s a different name from [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] while I’m saying it, which basically means that when I get to the -d- I’ve sort of forgotten that I’m supposed to day something else at the end instead of what I usually say :stuck_out_tongue:

I love [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] and [name_m]Frederic[/name_m]. I love this ending, it has such a medieval feel.

I love [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] and [name_m]Frederic[/name_m], but really none of the others. Technically, I’m not sure I’d say [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] has the same ending, either, since it’s REEK (fred-eh-REEK) in [name_m]French[/name_m] as opposed to [name_m]RICK[/name_m] like all the others.

I like Emeric and [name_m]Warrick[/name_m]. Not really drawn to any of the others. I’m curious which category Emeric falls into for you (dweeby/dashing)…?

lol [name_m]Theodoric[/name_m] is the ultimate clunker! Not that there’s anything wrong with that

I love [name_m]Alaric[/name_m]

Well, Emeric to me is neither dweeby or dashing. It is the name of my cousin’s ex-fiance and he was such a &^%^& that that’s what it suggests to me! Also, it is the name of the big mainframe computer in the [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_u]Tracy[/name_u]-[name_f]Katharine[/name_f] Hepburn classic Desk [name_m]Set[/name_m] (spelled differently though I think) so between a jerky male and a giant computer, I don’t fancy it!

Your post would make a great title for a short story or piece of quick fiction - am writing it in my notebook.

I voted [name_m]Frederick[/name_m].

I voted for [name_m]Roderic[/name_m], Emeric, and [name_m]Warrick[/name_m]. My favorite of these is [name_m]Warrick[/name_m]; I think it has a wonderful sound. I also like [name_m]Garrick[/name_m] but most definitely prefer [name_m]Gareth[/name_m].

I forgot [name_m]Dietrich[/name_m]. Not saying I like it. I like [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] [name_m]Dietrich[/name_m], but the deet sound is reminiscent of Deet bug toxic spray.

I’ve always like [name_m]Roderic[/name_m], [name_m]Cedric[/name_m], and [name_m]Warrick[/name_m]. I grew up with a [name_m]Roderic[/name_m] & [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] and they were very nice, smart, and athletic.

[name_m]Alaric[/name_m] is my favorite.
