Same Feel As April, But Stylish

I am writing this children’s story about a young girl who befriends another girl who is bullied at school. I’m calling her [name]April[/name] for now, but with such a name it reads as if the story takes place in the 70s.I need a more stylish name that has the same appeal as [name]April[/name] but in a more modern style. here is a profile of my main character:

10 years old, african american. She is learning ballet, but is not the best dancer in the class. She likes to wear dresses because they are more comfortable, and not because she is particularly girly. Her hair is always in a bun unless she is at home. Her mother works at a nursing home during evenings and sleeps while she is at school Her father is a professor and is very invested in the world’s news. They live in [name]Brooklyn[/name], New [name]York[/name]. Her favorite place to go is the botanic gardens.

I hope that gives you an idea of how my main character is like. Thanks for the help!
