My husband and I cannot agree on any names. I like something less common (being a teacher- I’ve taught a child by almost every name) and he wants to make sure that our boy won’t have difficulty spelling his name or be teased.
The only name we can come to any agreement on is [name]Samuel[/name], but we’d like more alternatives.
The surname is Italian, Bocchi (hard ‘c’- unpronounced h). I was thinking something in 3 syllables, but I’m open to suggestions.
I forgot to mention, that my family are Irish, so I like the idea of including an Irish name. However, names like [name]Callum[/name], [name]Riley[/name] and [name]Declan[/name] are either too common OR they don’t flow well with Bocchi.
Please help.
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Elias[/name] (not the best with your last name…)
[name]Elliot[/name] (I think [name]Leo[/name] would be a cool nickname)
[name]Edward[/name] (only two syllables, though)
[name]Finnian[/name]
[name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name] (not sure about [name]Oliver[/name] with your last name, though)
[name]Phineas[/name]/[name]Phinean[/name]
[name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]William[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name]
I really like [name]Samuel[/name] with your last name.
[name]Samuel[/name] is a great solution, a distinctive name with a simple short form. Also, for Irish names, I love [name]Jill[/name]'s suggestions of [name]Finnian[/name] and [name]Sullivan[/name] – [name]Finnian[/name] especially will give you the easy-to-spell [name]Finn[/name]. Names that end in consonants definitely work better with your last name. I like [name]Gallagher[/name] or [name]Gulliver[/name] too, but those may be too far out for your husband
There are some really good suggestions here. [name]Jill[/name], I love [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name]. ([name]Elliot[/name]'s a family name on my side- and hubby and I both like ‘[name]Leo[/name]’)
[name]Bogart[/name]'s also a good one, but I’m not sure how my hubby will like this one.
Thanks so far.
I’m so glad you saw some names you like. [name]Elliot[/name]'s a family name for you? That’s great! (I have no worthy family names!) I’m glad you like [name]Leo[/name], too. ([name]Leo[/name] is one of my favorites!)
I’m also a teacher and had the same problem. My husband and I have very different taste in names and ended up only being able to agree on [name]Samuel[/name]. His name is [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Atticus[/name] and we call him [name]Sam[/name]. I worried it was too popular, but we haven’t really run into many little [name]Sam[/name]'s on the playground. I’m happy with the choice.
My husband is still ‘not sold’ on [name]Samuel[/name], however much I like it and so we are trial running a number of everyone’s suggestions. [name]Every[/name] week we refer to my growing bump as a new name. I think this is a good way of seeing if a name will ‘grow on you’.
Thanks all for suggestions.
