Yes! [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] is a great name, and a great namesake, though it is a lot to wear. I agree that I probably wouldn’t bestow it on someone else.
I like the idea of [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] O- with the nickname [name_f]Sappho[/name_f]! [name_m]Just[/name_m] imagine [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] “[name_f]Sappho[/name_f]”
Thank you, those are fab! [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] is especially beautiful, and [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] sounds so badass
[name_u]Love[/name_u] that idea! [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is lovely, and now you have me thinking… [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] [name_f]Ottoline[/name_f]… (this is fun )
These two are fantastic! Far “braver” than my style but since this is GP territory only for me then I’m all in
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] are also stunning, and I love the extravagance of [name_f]Idony[/name_f] [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] Cleophée!
I like it. You know I love the feminine -o. It is very bold in the best way. I think 20 years ago it was much less usable but I think it has shed a lot of the shame attached and depending on location, could be feasible as a first name.
I think that Sappho is not a name to bestow on someone else because it is so associated with a sexuality. The irony of a child named Sappho turning out to be straight is too great a risk. However I could see Sappho suiting a pet.
ETA: especially since “sapphic” is a word meaning a woman-aligned person who is attracted to other women-aligned people.
I think the historical [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] is a great namesake and in some cultures (e.g. Greek) it’s a perfectly acceptable name.
I’m not sure how I would feel about using it as a first name in the UK, but I do really like it as a middle name. I would pair it with a longer first name like [name_f]Adelina[/name_f], [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliana[/name_f].
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] is fun like others have said!
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] Farrow (nonsensical but fun to pronounce!)
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Maura[/name_f]
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Kirsty[/name_f]
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Grazia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Mehitabel[/name_f]
Kind of random, but it was fun!
I’d use [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] as a middle. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using it, it’s a very girl power name due to the poet association.
I love [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f], even though that should be gemstone overload.
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Ismene[/name_f]
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Amandine[/name_f]
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Lilou[/name_f]
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Liliane[/name_f]
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] Liliet
As a a fan and writer of poetry, and as a gay person, I absolutely love it. I’d likely go for it as a middle name, with a first name that ended with a, I like the sounds together, like:
Laura [name_f]Sappho[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_f]Sappho[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Sappho[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f] [name_f]Sappho[/name_f]
I was very skeptical before I saw this idea. But [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] O- nn [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] is brilliant and very cute. I like [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f] and [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]. With the specification that this is a name you chose for yourself and not one you bestow on a child. I love it.
