Sarah - Usable or Dated?

It’s been a long long time since I’ve met a [name]Sarah[/name] under the age of 20. Is it dated?

[name]Do[/name] you know any? Would you use [name]Sarah[/name]/[name]Sara[/name]?

I love [name]Sarah[/name]! It definitely isn’t outdated—I’m under 20, and I have a lot of friends my age named [name]Sarah[/name].

[name]Sarah[/name] is timeless! It works on every single age and would not look odd or out of place on a baby today. I know a few [name]Sarah[/name]'s around my age (mid twenties), but I have only come across one at work.

I threw around the idea of [name]Sera[/name] as a nickname for [name]Serafina[/name] but not on it’s own, no other reason than there are other names I love more - but it’s a great name!

I think [name]Sarah[/name] is always usable. Its a classic and I don’t consider it dated.

I know a lot a of Sarahs ranging from twenty to about five. I think I have about six [name]Sarah[/name]/Saras in my graduating class which is this year. I wouldn’t use [name]Sarah[/name] because I know so many personally but it is a very pretty name and what girl wouldn’t want a name meaning princess?

If you like [name]Sarah[/name] but are worried about it being dated you could use it as a nickname for [name]Seraphine[/name] or [name]Seraphina[/name] which I also think are very pretty.

[name]Sarah[/name] was a very popular name for my generation (born in the 1980s), but I don’t think that it could ever really sound dated in the way that [name]Jessica[/name] or [name]Jennifer[/name] can sound dated, because [name]Sarah[/name] is a classic, biblical name and its popularity is not confined to one time period.

[name]Sarah[/name] is one of my favorite names. I will never use it because my hubby doesn’t love it, and I had a friend named [name]Sarah[/name] in high school and it would be kind of odd. I think it is classic and that it is one of the loveliest sounding names. It is still quite popular where I live, top 20 probably.

I love [name]Sarah[/name]! It is definitely a timeless classic. I know two [name]Sarah[/name]'s…one is 37, and the other is 6.

I too think [name]Sarah[/name] can never really be dated. It’s simple and elegant. A lovely choice!

I agree with everyone else. [name]Sarah[/name]/[name]Sara[/name] could never be dated. It’s thoroughly lovely, and a true classic. It falls in the same category as [name]Mary[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], C/[name]Katherine[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], and [name]Anna[/name]/e. As an aside, I prefer [name]Sara[/name] as it reminds me of [name]Sara[/name] [name]Crewe[/name] from [name]Frances[/name] [name]Hodgson[/name] [name]Burnett[/name]'s A [name]Little[/name] [name]Princess[/name].

[name]Sarah[/name] may have been more popular at one time, but it’s truly a classic. I group it with names like [name]Rachel[/name] and [name]Laura[/name], and how I imagine [name]Hannah[/name] will be seen in a decade.

I know an adorable 6 year old [name]Sarah[/name].

That book is the prime reason I love [name]Sara[/name] and would use it (if it wasn’t the name of my sister in law!)

So if [name]Sarah[/name]/[name]Sara[/name] isn’t dated, and is a timeless classic as we all seem to think, why are there no little Sarahs running around??? I just looked it up, it is number 17 for popularity where I live, which places it pretty high up there! 113 Sarahs, 49 [name]Sara[/name], and various other odd spellings and names that could get you [name]Sara[/name] as a nn.

It’s a classic, can’t ever be dated. I know of a few small-ish ones. I prefer [name]Sara[/name], it’s beautiful and clean.

Ohhhhh…I love [name]Sarah[/name]! I would love to see this on a baby…classic yet refreshing and far from boring!

I love [name]Sarah[/name]… It’s classic… Always usable

It’s a classic and therefore it isn’t possible for it to date.

I love it, and as you can see from the names in my signature, it’s one of my favorites.

[name]Sarah[/name] is timeless. You can mod it up with the nickname [name]Sadie[/name] or go retro with the nickname [name]Sally[/name], and that’s really wonderful with a name. It has so much potential.

I know about 10 Sarahs between the ages of 45 and 5.

I know at least 3 [name]Sara[/name]/h’s under the age of 15.

It’s a classic. I can’t see it ever being outdated. It’s too simple and straightforward and old.

I don’t see it as being something not usable, and I wouldn’t call it dated because it’s a ‘classic’…but I would consider it extremely common, plain, and boring. In my class of 63 there were three girls with the name, and they all hated that the had to be ‘[name]Sara[/name] H’ or ‘blonde [name]Sarah[/name]’ so that’s my association with it.

[name]Sarah[/name] is a beautiful classic. [name]One[/name] of DS’s little friends from playgroup is a baby [name]Sara[/name] (our playgroup is full of great baby names, though). A girl I went to middle school with named her baby [name]Sara[/name] as well- I think she’s 2 or 3 by now. There were also a couple [name]Sarah[/name]/Saras at the middle school I used to work at.

[name]Sarah[/name] is so pretty but I actually know 4 under the age of 18. To me, it’s one of those names that’s so common that it has lost it’s meaning. It’s kind of just a filler name to me that I never notice. That being said, I love the history behind it and it has a beautiful sound. I love [name]Seraphina[/name] “[name]Sera[/name]” and the nicknames [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Sally[/name] for [name]Sarah[/name]. I’d definitely spell it with the -h because that is the classic spelling, which I’m a sucker for.
