Saranel - or SaraNell, Sara-Nell, Sara Nell, etc

I really love the name Saranel (The name [name_f]Sara[/name_f] is special to my husband and I and I want to honor my mom - MN is [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] - and maternal grandmother, [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]), but I worry about pronunciation issues. We also want to use [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] as a middle name to honor my husband’s grandmother.

So…is Saranel workable? (with pronunciation like [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f]) or should we use SaraNell, [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f], etc… It is sort of like [name_f]Marisol[/name_f], so I hope it can work! I think there is a [name_u]Berry[/name_u] on here with the username Saranel, which is where I got the inspiration.

Thanks so much!

It’s a made-up name, so I think you’ll have lots of complications with it, including pronunciation and spelling. I saw it and thought, is it [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or Sa [name_m]RA[/name_m] nell? And where on earth does it come from?

Why not [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]? And call her [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] for a nn? [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] is a mouthful, but full of lovely meaning.

[name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] makes a very sweet double barrel, but the two names need a bit more separation so you know that you’re working with [name_f]Sara[/name_f] + [name_f]Nell[/name_f]. The beginning looks like Saran, as in saran wrap, so it seems like it could be Sa-[name_m]RAN[/name_m]-uhl.The combined effect of Saranel is odd-looking although the individual parts are so pretty.

I think [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or the longer but beautiful [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] or [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] (all nicknamed [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f]) would be much prettier. These all flow fine with [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] as the second middle. I’d caution against SaraNell, because with no space the middle capital letter will get dropped a lot.

I would pronounce Saranel as ‘sah-ran-elle’ not ‘sara-nell’. I much prefer [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] or [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f]. I like the suggestion of [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] with nn. [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Nell[/name_f].

Saranel is not workable to me. It is a name she will have to explain her whole life.
I sometimes like a double barrell and in this case I do. [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] is lovely.

From your options I like [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] the best. [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Nell[/name_f] and SaraNell look kind of messy to me, and Saranel would get misspelled and -pronounced all her life.
[name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] or [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] would be beautiful!

[name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] would probably work better and less confusing! [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion.

I love [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f]. I absolutely love it. And I think the sound of [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful!! [name_m]Even[/name_m] better that it has personal meaning to you and your husband. I do not think [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] is a better sound. In fact, the a at the end of [name_f]Sara[/name_f] and the e at the beginning of [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] make it sound messy and rather cheap, in my opinion. Use [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Nell[/name_f] if you want to make sure people know it’s one word. I just love saying it. It’s so pretty!

I think [name_f]Sara[/name_f] is lovely, and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is sweet. [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] is just cool. [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] is a great choice. Either “[name_f]Sara[/name_f]-[name_f]Nell[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f]” would work.

I would NOT spell it “Saranel”…it’s just too confusing! It does however remind of [name_u]Seren[/name_u], which is a Welsh name meaning “star”. It also happens to sound like a smoosh of [name_f]Sara[/name_f] + [name_f]Nell[/name_f], but is a real name without all the headache that would most likely come with “Saranel”. You could even take it a step further and choose [name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f].

Also, I think that [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f], as others have suggestions, is beautiful.

Good luck!
