This will be our second child, a delivery surprise. We already have a daughter called [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. We don’t know what we’re having, but if it’s a girl, we have a shortlist:
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (although I’m considering [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] so I could use the nickname [name_f]Gigi[/name_f])
My first choice is for [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], but my husband is now pushing for [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]. I do like [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], but I prefer [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] as I think it is more underused. I love that both are easy to spell, not crazy popular but still classic and straightforward like [name_f]Zoe[/name_f].
Others on my list:
[name_f]India[/name_f] (although my husband prefers [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] which I’m not as keen on, but I love [name_f]Indi[/name_f] as a nickname)
I prefer [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] flows better than [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
I too prefer [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], as I’m more used to [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] as a male name (either as a nn for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or alone).
I really love [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], though, too.
If it helps, I know two Gemmas and one [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]. [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] does not seem common at all.
I vote for [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] Maybe [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] to “feminize” it more, although [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] is a female name to me anyway. I do like the name [name_f]Lily[/name_f] a lot though despite it’s popularity!
Edit: I think I’m so-so on Gemma because I know so many, I’m in Australia.
I love [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]! Demure, sweet, charming, vintage-chic to me because of the [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_m]Doyle[/name_m] trilogy which takes place in the 1890s. I’ve never met a [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] at all- I’m in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]. [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] seems too masculine to me for a girl, though [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] nn [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] would be charming! (but I would kind of expect him to be Russian)
I like both a lot, but they’re very different to me. [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] feels ultra feminine, and [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] feels more down to earth. I kind of like [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] more as sisters, but you should use what you love.
I prefer [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] with [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] over [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] though both are nice.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Jesabel, is [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] super popular in Australia? We are Aussies but currently living overseas. But we may be back in [name_m]Oz[/name_m] for school and I would like to avoid her being one of many Gemmas in her class!
It’s not super popular for babies I don’t think, it wasn’t in the top 100 last year, and the [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]'s I know are my age, so maybe it was popular in WA 20 years ago! But I don’t think you have anything to worry about
I love [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]/[name_f]Grace[/name_f] with [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] is nice, too – although I prefer it as a nickname for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]/[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] – but I would suggest looking for a new middle name if you did go with her, since [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] is a variation of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. She deserves her own middle name, not just a different version of her sister’s.
I prefer [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], but that might be because I like it as a nickname to the male [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].
I wouldn’t use [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] though because it’s basically the same name as [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. You would be giving them the same middle name only a different language.
I love [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]! I know it’s often used for boys, but to me it sounds plenty girly, too soft for a boy in my opinion!
I also think [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] go together very nicely.
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]/[name_f]Grace[/name_f]/[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]!
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though I like [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] and i think it’s very cute and it will make a good name for [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]'s sibling, [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]'s still a nickname for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]/[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]. Maybe it would work with a different middle name but I just can’t picture 2 names that different ([name_u]Sasha[/name_u] and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]) combined.
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] is adorable. To me [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] is a masculine name, sorry
I too love the name [name_f]Indigo[/name_f], more so than [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
Another vote for [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] are a nicely matched pair. I also like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], but the echoing ‘ee’ endings makes it a second choice for me.
