[name]Hi[/name],
I’ve got two boys, [name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Sander[/name], ages 10 and 5, and I’ve got a baby girl coming next month.
The problem is the last name: It’s a hard one – [name]Stone[/name].
I’d love a two-or-three syllable first name that’s feminine and that has an S somewhere in it – I think that would flow really well with [name]Stone[/name].
I like [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Stone[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Stone[/name] (call her [name]Eve[/name],) [name]Sabrina[/name], etc.
My husband hates all of them.
So far, the only name we can agree on is [name]Scout[/name]. It’s cute. I like it. It doesn’t have much flow.
Names I’d like to incorporate to honor family members as middle names are [name]Felice[/name] and [name]Julia[/name], which are not my favorites, and so would be [name]Julianna[/name] or [name]Felicity[/name] as a middle name.
We’re running out of time here…
[name]Scout[/name] [name]Stone[/name]. It’s fine. It’s not fabulous, though, and that’s what I want!
And I’m 41, so this is the LAST baby and the only girl.
Okay, so an ‘S’ name to go with last name [name]Stone[/name] and mn [name]Julianna[/name] or [name]Felicity[/name]…
[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Julianna[/name]
[name]Saffron[/name] [name]Julianna[/name]
[name]Solange[/name] [name]Julianna[/name]
[name]Sidonie[/name] [name]Julianna[/name]
[name]Seraphina[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Serena[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Shiloh[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Sasha[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Samara[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
I love [name]Scout[/name] and it would make a perfect sib-set with brothers [name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Sander[/name] but I agree, [name]Scout[/name] [name]Stone[/name] is a bit too harsh. If you do go with it though, I think [name]Scout[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Stone[/name] would be pretty:)
Good [name]Luck[/name]!

[name]Hi[/name]! I see two potential problems with [name]Scout[/name] [name]Stone[/name]. One, as you mentioned, is that it is very short and monosyllabic, plus they are both words so it doesn’t quite sound like a name to me. Two, with brothers [name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Sander[/name] I’d have no idea that [name]Scout[/name] was a little girl. I think with two brothers, especially one with a name that is getting used as a girls name now ([name]Sawyer[/name]) I’d go with more identifiably feminine names (especially since she will probably be your last and only little girl!). I love [name]Felicity[/name] or [name]Juliana[/name] as first or middle names. Here are some other options (I agree that longer names work best):
[name]Addison[/name] - last namey (like [name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Sander[/name]) but has gone to the girls. [name]May[/name] be too popular for your liking, but the nickname [name]Addy[/name] is quite cute.
[name]Scarlett[/name]- would keep the S theme but is still girly and cute. Sounds kind of like [name]Scout[/name] too. Plus [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Stone[/name] sounds so snazzy. (yay alliteration!). [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Stone[/name]. [name]Love[/name] it!
[name]Savannah[/name] - also stays with the S theme, has the cute nn Savy and sounds lovely with [name]Stone[/name].
[name]Piper[/name] - really like this with [name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Sander[/name]. Ends in -er like the others, if that appeals to you. Has the same spunk as [name]Scout[/name] but is more feminine.
[name]Shelby[/name]- another S name that I think works. [name]Shelby[/name] [name]Juliana[/name] [name]Stone[/name]. [name]Shelby[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Sander[/name].
hope that helps!
More options:
[name]Serena[/name]
[name]Selah[/name]
[name]Susanna[/name]
i like sadie and savannahx
I like [name]Savannah[/name], [name]Stella[/name], and [name]Scarlett[/name]. I think you could nickname her [name]Scout[/name].
I like the set [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Sander[/name] and [name]Scout[/name] but, as pp said, I would have no idea that [name]Scout[/name] was a girl. And of course you’re right that [name]Scout[/name] [name]Stone[/name] doesn’t have a fabulous flow.
I like [name]Emerson[/name] of your ideas so far, too bad that hubby isn’t on board. Others have suggested lots of good ‘s’ names (I love [name]Saffron[/name] and [name]Savannah[/name]). For a name containing an ‘s’, how about:
[name]Kelsey[/name]
[name]Kinsey[/name]
[name]Addison[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Ainsley[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Sierra[/name]/[name]Sienna[/name]
And if you decide you don’t need an ‘s’ at all:
[name]Marley[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Avery[/name]
[name]Mallory[/name]
[name]Whitney[/name]
[name]Tatum[/name]
[name]Ellery[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Reegan[/name]
[name]Hadley[/name]
my vote is for [name]Scarlett[/name]!!
I think [name]Scarlett[/name] with the nn [name]Scout[/name] would work well. I would give her a more feminine name though. [name]Emerson[/name] is very masculine as well. I like the suggestion of [name]Sadie[/name].
Others:
[name]Harper[/name]- keeping in line with [name]Scout[/name]
[name]Arden[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Sonya[/name]/[name]Sonia[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Tatum[/name]
[name]Tamsin[/name]
[name]Larkin[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Emery[/name]- Still unisex but more feminine than [name]Emerson[/name]
[name]Celia[/name]
[name]Sydney[/name]
[name]How[/name] about [name]Sloane[/name]?
**edit. NM. I’m slow. [name]Sloane[/name] [name]Stone[/name]? Not so much.
[name]Scarlett[/name] is really pretty!! It really flows well with [name]Stone[/name].
Yeah, we’ve ruled out:
[name]Sloane[/name] [name]Stone[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Etta[/name] [name]Stone[/name]
[name]Flynn[/name] [name]Stone[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Stone[/name]
And a lot of others that are cute but not cute, you know?
Thanks, all for the ideas!
Keep them coming – I’m talking to my husband tonight to see if there’s anything he can live with.
He likes plain-[name]Jane[/name] names from the 50s and 60s – [name]Marie[/name], [name]Debbie[/name], [name]Sandy[/name]. Straight out of “Grease!”
We need to bring him into this century!
I love love love [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Stone[/name], what a name! And the nn [name]Scout[/name] works really well with it.
[name]Susannah[/name] is really nice as well.
I have to agree with others that [name]Scout[/name] [name]Stone[/name] just doesn’t quite work for me.
