My husband was glancing at my girls list today, as he does a lot (I think he is a name nerd in denial) and he said something like “[name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] are the only two I would actually use for a baby, the others are kinda Ehh.” So now I’m reevaluating my whole list and considering removing all but these 2. What’s the point of having them on my list if he would never even consider them? I love both of them too but I want more than 2 names on my list!
[name]Sawyer[/name] - I’ve loved this name almost as long as [name]Rowan[/name], I like the spirited and adventurous feel it has, I feel like it “fits” with [name]Rowan[/name].
[name]Wren[/name] - love the sound and imagery, it has some personal meaning to me, but I’ve had people tell me it sounds too close to [name]Rowan[/name] and it’s extremely hard to pair with middle names being one syllable.
Does anyone have any new suggestions I could put on my list? I like unisex/boyish names, unusual girls names that generally don’t end with an -a, and word names. Nature connections would be a plus.
As a fellow mother to a little girl named [name]Rowan[/name], I would definitely NOT name the next girl [name]Wren[/name]. That is way too close in my opinion. I would find another pairing that allows them to have more individuality. The nature reference is a good start!
Maybe it’s my accent or something, but I don’t think [name]Wren[/name] sounds too similar to [name]Rowan[/name]. I don’t know.
I love [name]Clover[/name] but we can’t use it… my husband has a close childhood friend named [name]Clover[/name]. I like [name]Sage[/name] but for some reason it feels expected or forced.
[name]Teagan[/name] is adorable! It’s definitely a perfect choice with [name]Rowan[/name], but I couldn’t use it. It just doesn’t feel right.
I think [name]Rowan[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] are too close as well. I’m not crazy about [name]Sawyer[/name] on a girl, but it does go very well with [name]Rowan[/name]. [name]Linden[/name]?
I guess I need to rethink [name]Wren[/name] as well. I’m not a fan of [name]Linden[/name]…sounds too much like [name]Linda[/name]. I feel so lost when it comes to girls names, like nothing compares to [name]Rowan[/name].
I agree with the others, [name]Wren[/name] is way too close to [name]Rowan[/name] to use in the same sib set…
I like [name]Kellan[/name], too. But since you have issues with the possibilities of Kel…how about [name]Callan[/name]? I know a girl who goes by this and I have never heard anyone shorten it to [name]Cal[/name] or anything. Honestly, I think if you introduce yourself [name]Callan[/name] or [name]Kellan[/name] or whatever, they will call you that. And if someone shortens it, just correct them. But I think the probability of [name]Callan[/name] being shortened is very low.
Other names I think would fit…
[name]Sloane[/name]
[name]Brette[/name] - I know a girl named this. Pronounced just like [name]Brett[/name]
[name]Maren[/name]
[name]Marit[/name]
[name]Hadley[/name]
[name]Keegan[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name]
[name]Hayden[/name]
[name]Cameron[/name]
[name]Reese[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] are both really cute girl names but I love [name]Alys[/name] (saw it on your signature). [name]How[/name] can he dislike Ayls???
[name]Callan[/name] is cute, but I have friends with a Cailinn and a [name]Callum[/name]…too much
I love [name]Marit[/name]/Merit and [name]Maren[/name]! I actually like [name]Reese[/name] (all spellings) a lot, and I like the sound of [name]Cameron[/name] too but the meaning stinks.
though I like both for either gender, preferring boys. I think it would be adorable for sisters! I do not think [name]Wren[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name] are close…for sisters
I agree wholeheartedly. I knew for a long time that I would name a daughter [name]Rowan[/name]. But then #2 comes along and I was at a loss. I’m happy with our pick now, but it took a while and A LOT of soul searching.
Well, maybe the next one will be a boy and I won’t have to worry about it since we only want 2. Congrats on a second daughter, [name]Teagan[/name] [name]Dahlia[/name] is lovely.
I think [name]Rowan[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] are cute together! I also like [name]Sawyer[/name]. The suggestion of [name]Maren[/name] is really great, [name]Rowan[/name] & [name]Maren[/name] would be such cute sisters, and I think the name would look good on a daughter made by you and hubby.
Whenever I think of a sibling for [name]Rowan[/name], I think [name]Senna[/name]. I think it’s an adorable name. Some others:
Aalin
[name]Bevan[/name]
Ebrel
[name]Fallon[/name]
[name]Katell[/name]
[name]Lindsey[/name]
[name]Melia[/name]
Moraine
Morgell
[name]Nessa[/name]
[name]Tamsin[/name]
Ylva
I think [name]Sawyer[/name] is a great choice for you! What about [name]Fern[/name] instead of [name]Wren[/name]? I think [name]Laurel[/name] might work too as it is a strong nature name.
Me too I found out it was used in ancient [name]Egypt[/name] the other day which made me like it even more. There was a programme on tv about archaeologists and the tomb of an overseer called Ka and his wife Merit. Gave it a bit more substance.
For some reason, [name]Maren[/name] sounds closer to [name]Rowan[/name] to me than [name]Wren[/name]. Maybe because they are both 2like syllables and [name]Wren[/name] is only 1.
