Which one do you prefer and why? What do you think of besides the color red? [name]Do[/name] you know anyone with the names?
Well besides red, I think of
[name]Scarlet[/name] - The [name]Scarlet[/name] Letter
[name]Ruby[/name] - the gemstone or the bunny kids show: [name]Max[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]
I prefer [name]Ruby[/name] and I don’t know anyone with these names.
I’ve never liked [name]Scarlet[/name], but I’ve liked [name]Ruby[/name] for as long as I can remember.
I can think of two Scarlets… [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ohara[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name] Johansson. [name]One[/name] is a flat character and a terrible role model (in my opinion), while the other is an actress who I feel is also flat. So the name just feels boring to me.
[name]Ruby[/name] is spunky and sparky. It has a nice, soft sound that I tend to like in names.
Thank you both I agree I love [name]Ruby[/name] too.
[name]Ruby[/name] makes me think of… rubies! And charming indie movie [name]Ruby[/name] Sparks.
[name]Scarlet[/name] makes me think of… [name]Scarlett[/name] O’[name]Hara[/name] & a beautiful album & song by [name]Tori[/name] [name]Amos[/name], [name]Scarlet[/name]'s Walk. Oh, and The [name]Scarlet[/name] Letter (which makes me think of the movie…and then [name]Gary[/name] Oldman…).
I think I like [name]Ruby[/name] a tiny bit better, but neither is really my style. [name]Both[/name] are very pretty though.
I like both, but I prefere [name]Scarlett[/name] with this spelling.
Personally, I don’t like full names ending in the EE sound for adults. [name]Ruby[/name] seems like a little girl’s name but not a grown woman’s.
Aside from that [name]Scarlett[/name] seems more traditional and [name]Ruby[/name] seems more trendy. Which of those is preferable is a matter of taste.
I actually like both [name]Scarlet[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]! I think it would depend on what your last name is which one I’d choose…I might also add that [name]Ruby[/name] seems to be a name that a little girl can wear all through adulthood with no problems. [name]Scarlet[/name], however, I view more as as sexy or older lady name, but that’s just my own personal reactions.
I prefer [name]Ruby[/name].
[name]Scarlett[/name]…scarlet fever, [name]Scarlett[/name] O’[name]Hara[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name] Johannson, the scarlet letter. [name]Just[/name] too many negatives in there.
[name]Ruby[/name]…ruby slippers, [name]Ruby[/name] Bridges, [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Tuesday[/name], my great-aunt, the stone…better associations. And I think the sound is nicer, no “scar” in there.
I had the same dilemma a couple of months ago. Still love them both. [name]Ruby[/name] is an old-lady name, while being cute on a child and spunky on a teen. Not sure how it translates for an adult though…Also love nickname of Roo or [name]Rue[/name]. I know one three year old named [name]Ruby[/name].
[name]Scarlett[/name] is definately more grown up but I think is also cute on a little girl. I am aware of how many negative associations it has (scarlet fever, scarlet woman, “scar”, etc…), however, despite all of this, it’s the one we have decided on! Our third girl is arriving by cesarean in 13 days and she will be named [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Emily[/name]. I actually quite like the idea of her being a gothic/punky teenager and going by the nickname “Scar”, but I guess that’s just me?! Lol
I enjoyed reading this, Thank you.
Congratulations, I like [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Emily[/name] paired together.
I like both of them. I think it depends on the popularity around where you live. [name]Both[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name] are quite popular round here. If popularity isn’t a problem then I would go with [name]Ruby[/name] nn Roo
[name]Scarlett[/name] is my favorite! [name]Ruby[/name] has something cute about but there is just something I find very special about [name]Scarlett[/name]
I really like [name]Both[/name], but [name]Ruby[/name] would get my vote, simply because to me, it is more timeless and traditional.
I like both name. [name]Scarlet[/name] always reminded me of Miss [name]Scarlet[/name] from the board game Clue. It seems elegant and sophisticated to me. [name]Ruby[/name] is really uncommon where I live. I have never met anybody named [name]Ruby[/name] and it doesn’t seem like an old-lady name to me at all. It just reminds me of the song [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Blue[/name] by [name]Roisin[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] (not sure if i spelled that right). I like the song it is fun and quirky.
popularity isn’t an issue, and I like roo as a nickname I think it’s cute
