I ran across this name today. I’ve never seen it before. According to Wikipedia, it’s a type of wildflower. I’m not sure I would ever use it but I think it’s pretty. What do you all think? Have you ever met a Scilla?
Edit: looked again and it’s not Scilla, it’s Csilla. Better or worse?
It makes me think of Cilia ( on single celled organisms). And I thought it was Scillia?
If i heard the name, i’d think either [name]Cilla[/name] (as in short for [name]Priscilla[/name]) or Scylla (as in Scylla and Charybdis). But those don’t necessarily render it unusable.
It looks very similar to scrilla which is slang for money.

Yes I think of cilia, the epithelial lining of the small intestine. Not sure why [name]Celia[/name] doesn’t bring that to mind for me as much…
I immediately thought “as in Charybdis?” like spring13. I don’t think I would use it for that reason. It’s also weird to start a name with an “S” sound with “Sc.” It is, however, a WAY better nickname for Priscilla than “Prissy”
Reminds me of Scalia…which doesn’t seem right for a name.

Sparrowfinch, I think I have to disagree with you about [name]Priscilla[/name] nicknames. Google the video “La [name]Nina[/name] vs Miss [name]Prissy[/name].” She’s the crazy one with the striped socks. Seeing this woman krump kind of made me love the name [name]Prissy[/name].
It reminds me of both a nn for [name]Priscilla[/name] (which I like) and a window sill. It’s okay, but I personally wouldn’t use it as a stand alone name.
Oops! I had it wrong. It was Csilla. Not a flower. I’m not sure where it comes from. I don’t know if that makes it better to worse. I’m assuming it’s pronounced the same?
That’s Hungarian, in which case the cs- is pronounced like ch- in English - so it would be CHEE-law. From the word for “star” apparently, which is nice, but i don’t think its so usable in an English speaking country.
