The Scottie I knew growing up never got this, but it may be a different situation depending on where you are and who you associate with.
I love [name_u]Scottie[/name_u]! That’s so cute.
I also like scottlyn and [name_u]Scotland[/name_u].
Thanks everybody please keep the opinions coming.
We live in [name_f]England[/name_f], UK and aware of the ‘Scottie Dog’ association, which is a consideration but perhaps not enough to put us off. With the likes of names such as [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], [name_m]Bear[/name_m] etc we feel these nickname / association type names are more accepted than they used to be.
We’re set on no formal name for [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] - there’s none we love and none that fit with our eldest’s name. I am christened an abbreviation rather than formal name (ie. [name_u]Sam[/name_u] instead of Samantha) and have always found it okay, went through school in the 90s/00s.
There are some lovely middle names suggested here - [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] I really like but still unsure if we’ve found the one! Please keep the middle names coming.
On my middle name list I had [name_f]Ines[/name_f], [name_f]Iva[/name_f] and [name_u]Love[/name_u] but none seem sit perfectly with [name_u]Scottie[/name_u].
I LOVE [name_u]Scottie[/name_u]. It gives me very strong [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] and [name_u]Ronnie[/name_u] vibes, which are also so cute. It also reminds me of the full name [name_u]Scotland[/name_u], which is very popular amongst girls now and is also beautiful.
I think pairing it with a feminine middle name helps that “masculine” notion, but I think if it’s a name you and your partner love then I would not worry about it! [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] [name_f]Ines[/name_f] is beautiful!!!
If you’re going to use a very gender neutral/boy name on a girl, I definitely recommend using a very feminine middle name such as [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. For example, my first name is [name_u]Carson[/name_u], and my middle name is [name_u]Skye[/name_u]. I don’t really like how [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] flows with [name_f]Ines[/name_f], so I would recommend a flower name or something else short but sweet.
I absolutely love [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] on a girl. Its darling. I also like it as a nickname to [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. Either way, I think its super cute and if you love it, go with it. Don’t settle on a name you don’t love as a much just to please others. I also adore [name_f]Andie[/name_f], [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] and [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] on girls.
I adore it! I love usually masculine names made a bit more feminine for a girl (i.e. [name_m]Davey[/name_m], [name_u]Blakely[/name_u], Mattie).
Also, I’m an [name_f]Andie[/name_f] so maybe that’s why I’m a bit partial!
I personally know a child named [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Scott[/name_u] after her father and I thought that was a brilliant choice.
[name_f]Inez[/name_f] seems a bit random, unless it’s an honor name, as they are very different naming styles.
[name_u]Scottie[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_u]Scottie[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Scottie[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_u]Scottie[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
I have a coworker named [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] who is a former model, so the name is automatically super feminine to me. I say go for it!
I find [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] to be really adorable on a girl. At one point, I had suggested to my husband that we name a daughter [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] after our fathers but he wasn’t a fan.
As for middles, I feel either something traditional works well (Scottie [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], etc) or something short and sweet (Scottie [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] Wren).
[name_u]Scottie[/name_u] is cute!!
I love it! I immediately thought of [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] [name_u]Loren[/name_u] (Lor-Wren )
I’m a big fan!! [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] on a girl is too cute!
