Thoughts on [name_f]Seana[/name_f]/[name_f]Shauna[/name_f]?
I could never use it because of negative personal association (my childhood bully was named [name_f]Shauna[/name_f]) but it isn’t a bad name. It does feel a bit 80s-90s to me. Spelling-wise, I think [name_f]Shauna[/name_f] or even [name_f]Shawna[/name_f] works better. I’m from the States, so [name_m]Sean[/name_m]/[name_u]Shawn[/name_u] always threw me off. If I saw [name_f]Seana[/name_f] by itself on paper, I’d jump right to thinking it was See-ana.
It may not be a problem for you but I have to tell you something: [name_f]Seana[/name_f]/[name_f]Shauna[/name_f] has the same pronunciation (in Portuguese) as xana, a malicious word used in [name_u]Brazil[/name_u] to describe the female genital organ. It’s the only thing I think about when I read/hear that name, because people really use this word frequently. Sorry, I don’t like and wouldn’t use it.
[name_f]Shauna[/name_f]/[name_f]Seana[/name_f] is outdated in the UK so I don’t particularly like it. All the ones I know are around 25-35 (and all spelt [name_f]Shauna[/name_f]).
[name_f]Shauna[/name_f] is nice although it feels like a mom name or belonging to a middle aged woman, but if it is an honour name for you I think it would be lovely in the middle spot.
It is quite dated imo, I had a friend with the name growing up, and she thought her name was a “mom” name (we are now 23), so I’m thinking that dates it to the 70s here??
It’s not a bad name per se, I’d find it kind of refreshing on a little one, honestly! I love the name [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] which I feel is in the same boat as [name_f]Shauna[/name_f]/[name_f]Seana[/name_f]. I kind of prefer the [name_f]Seana[/name_f] spelling though.
It’s okay, but I’d only use it as an honour name in the middle spot. I would also spell it [name_f]Shauna[/name_f], because I would intuitively pronounce [name_f]Seana[/name_f] as “see-ah-na”.
I think [name_f]Shauna[/name_f], [name_f]Shawna[/name_f], or Shaunagh are all better than [name_f]Seana[/name_f]
The [name_f]Shauna[/name_f] spelling is the nicest in my opinion. It is associated with a certain age group but it’s 100% usable if you like it.
I like [name_f]Shawna[/name_f] best, but agree with some of the comments above about it being dated. As a child of the 70s, it fits in with the [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] and [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] group to me. If you love it though, go for it-- there aren’t many little girls with this name now!
WDYT of [name_f]Shauna[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]/[name_f]Shauna[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]?
