Hello everyone!
Okay so I am having a bit of trouble looking for names for a little girl. I love traditional names but am also a fan of more interesting names that are a little different (usually from mythology or books I have read). Names that are kind of lyrical and roll of the tongue are definitely favoured.
I think you have the gist of collecting names and the above posters have given you good names already. I too have the same problem of loving traditional but also unusual names. You have a few options:
Use one traditional and one unusual name so that you won’t be bound to one style if another sibling comes along eg. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f].
Use a traditional name that isn’t in the US top 1000 such as [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] or [name_f]Polly[/name_f]. This way it fits into both categories.
Use a traditional name with an unusual nickname or vice versa eg.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_u]Ezri[/name_u]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] nn [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
Lysandra nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] nn [name_f]Elle[/name_f]
Saying that, I actually think most of your suggestions with the exception of Lysandra are not that unusual. Although I am more familiar with the UK charts.
The middle ones - [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] - are the ones I recommend the most because they best combine traditional and unusual elements. [name_f]Katerina[/name_f] is a traditional and common Russian name and although it’s unusual here I think most people think of it as a basic Russian name, so I don’t recommend.
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] are beautiful!
