I’m currently expecting my second girl. My first daughter’s name is [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], which we chose because it’s a name in both English and Hebrew (a top priority for us). I’m having so much trouble coming up with names like it, that work really well in both languages (plus are not super common in English, and that I actually like!!!). I also obviously want to avoid names that end in an ‘ia’ sound for the second.
Please tell me one or more of you out there have brilliant ideas that I haven’t come by yet! [name_f]TIA[/name_f]!!!
Thanks! Several of those names we already have among family/close friends. But I’m trying to decide if I might like [name_f]Liora[/name_f]. Maybe I like it spelled [name_f]Leora[/name_f]. Though it’s not a name in English like [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is, maybe it’s close enough? [name_f]Do[/name_f] we like [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] and [name_f]Leora[/name_f] as a sibset?
I also have started liking [name_f]Zehava[/name_f], though I’m not sure if it sounds too foreign (compared to [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] especially). I like [name_f]Zara[/name_f], but don’t know if it’s just too reminiscent of the clothing store. And I started liking [name_f]Rafaela[/name_f] today…

[name_f]Eliora[/name_f] was my first thought. It’s Hebrew, easily pronounced in English, but uncommon, and I think it goes great with [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]! (plus I love the meaning - my God is my light)

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is gorgeous. I am ignorant of Hebrew names, but one I’ve come across and love is [name_f]Jora[/name_f].
Of your options listed above, my favorites are [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] & [name_f]Rafaela[/name_f], [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] & [name_f]Zara[/name_f], and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] & [name_f]Leora[/name_f]. I get a little tripped up saying [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] & [name_f]Eliora[/name_f] together.
You could also spell [name_f]Zara[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Zahra[/name_f]’? Similar to [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]…whether that would be nice or too matchy, I don’t know…
[name_f]Jora[/name_f] is really pretty! Though I just looked it up since I had never heard of it, and the Hebrew name is actually Yoreh, which is not nearly as nice…
You might have a point about [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliora[/name_f]. For sure they are too tough to say together to be a FN and MN, I’m undecided about whether that matters SO much for sibling names…

What about [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f]? It’s Hebrew, got a flower name meaning (like big sister [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]) and has a cute nickname (Shoshi!). [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] and [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f]!
