[name]Hi[/name]! I am currently TTC and have been feeling pressure to start narrowing down a list of girl names.
Boys names seem to be so easy for my husband and I. We have a son named [name]Phinneas[/name] [name]James[/name]. If our next one is a boy his first name will be either [name]Colin[/name], [name]Everett[/name], or [name]Declan[/name] and middle name will be [name]Stanley[/name] (after my dad).
But I am all over the place with girl names. I like names that are not too common because our last name is VERY common. However, with girl names I am much more open to some of the common classic names.
For first names, I like:
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name] (nn [name]Emmy[/name])
[name]Norah[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Fallon[/name] (But feel like that is too close to Phinn)
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Greer[/name]
[name]Hadley[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] (But I don’t want to get in a trap of having to use “P”)
[name]Harlow[/name]
[name]Wren[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Lilah[/name]
For middle names, I would like to use a family name:
[name]Kathleen[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Marie[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name]
[name]Anne[/name]/[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Virginia[/name]
But I am open to other suggestions.
I just need to find something that POPS. Please help!
A name that “pops” for one person can seem dull to someone else, so it’s hard to know what other names you like. From your list, my favorites are: [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Claire[/name], and [name]Theresa[/name]. I like:
I like [name]Norah[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Penelope[/name] (I don’t think it will matter since they start with totally different sounds), [name]Wren[/name], [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Lilah[/name] from your list. Some favorite combinations are:
I know what you mean about a name that has “that’s the one” feeling is not the same for everyone. With our son’s name [name]Phinneas[/name] (nn Phinn) [name]James[/name], it just had it for us and we have not been able to find the same with girls names yet. I know we will have critics not matter what we choose, but in general I want people to think “Hmm that’s different, but I like it!” when they hear it.
I like [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name], but I am not sure my husband will go for either of those. He really likes vowel names for girls but we are definitely not committed to that. His current picks are [name]Eleanor[/name] (nn [name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Ella[/name]) which I think the nicknames are too main stream and he likes [name]Adelaide[/name] (nn [name]Addie[/name]) but there is already an [name]Addison[/name] (nn [name]Addi[/name]) in his family.
Our last name is [name]Smith[/name], so I just want to find first and middle names that will make up for the lack of sparkle in our last name.
