Gorgeous sibling names!!
Sebastian, Oliver, Harriett & Ivy - that’s my choice.
However, I’m not keen on Edith as a MN (nor a FN for that matter!). But if it’s to honor your Grandmother, it’s a lovely gesture.
Otherwise, what about these suggestions?: Ivy Adelaide, Ivy Marion or Ivy Marian? Or perhaps Ivy Isabelle, Ivy Lily; Ivy Emerald; Ivy Evangeline; Ivy Scarlett; Ivy Isadora; Ivy Isabeau; Ivy Juliette; Ivy Violet; Ivy Sabine etc
Thanks to everyone for voting. We are comfortable with having some options and waiting until the baby is born to decide. But it’s nice to see what others think of our favorite combos. And maybe narrow it down a little
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is a name we both love, but I find [name_f]Edith[/name_f] a hard middle to work with. I would prefer to use it over [name_u]Marion[/name_u], but it’s a back-up option I guess.
I love [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] but my husband only likes it.
We both love [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] but is the [name_m]IAN[/name_m] ending from [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] too similar?
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is really cute, and we both love it. My husband came up with it as a way to say four or fourth-- IV. But is it too short with the other 3 syllable names.
We also live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] where none of these names are popular, to my knowledge. I don’t mind but [name_m]IRL[/name_m] I haven’t got very good reception for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] is NOT heard at all, and we love it and don’t mind, so I guess popularity really doesn’t bother me.
In fact, we almost didn’t use [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] b/c it is popular here.
Any feedback on the names, and my thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I adore the name [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] though I think of your choices [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is probably the most awkward combination. That said, [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is definitely a difficult mn so the fact that it is to honor someone is what’s important and should be focused on. Not necessarily the flow.
All the names you have go well with the siblings’ names. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is a bit close to [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], however the names don’t rhyme completely so I think it’s workable – especially if you love the name.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] doesn’t seem too short in comparison to the other names. I think the roman numeral reference is fun.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] get my vote.
I chose [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f], but I was torn between it and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] would be another nice option. I love the IV reference.
Also, I just wanted to let you know that I did a double-take when I saw your username and wondered when I could have possibly created this thread!
Thanks again everyone!
I really could use [name_u]Marion[/name_u] for the middle for any of the names, I just thought that might be too many choices for you! I would generally prefer to use [name_f]Edith[/name_f] since it was her first name, and one of my son’s has my grandfather’s first as his middle.
But [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] was our ‘original’ top name and didn’t flow well with [name_f]Edith[/name_f] to us. Our other children’s names all have nice flow, or we think so, and it would be nice to continue that. I also really love the meaning of the name. But [name_m]IRL[/name_m] everyone seems to much prefer [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].
Oh-- the others are [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Morris[/name_m], and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f].
lisaer-- that is really funny!!
I like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]!
Any more opinions on the list?
Thanks!
Wow - [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] is stunning!! I really strongly feel that either [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] would fit best with your sibset - they’re all British, classic, slightly longer feeling names that mesh beautifully. I like both quite equally, but [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] does come with a great namesake in the heroine of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]'s ‘Much [name_f]Ado[/name_f] About Nothing’ - one of my favourite plays and one of my favourite characters, she’s amazing!! I slightly prefer [name_f]Edith[/name_f] as a middle to [name_u]Marion[/name_u], but both work well.
Best of luck!
I think [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] sounds the best together, and that is why I picked it.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is perfection with [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]. I voted for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u], but might I suggest [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]?
I think [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] sound wonderful together. My favorite [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] combo would be [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u].
I voted for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u], because I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] with [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], and I prefer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] to [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] (too much ee sound). But I looked back and I really love [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] as well!
#1 [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u]
#2 [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f]
Any updates?
Thanks for asking tuppence42.
I’m just getting back on here now. I’m not due until end of [name_u]June[/name_u], and I won’t really make a final decision until I meet the baby:) I think week by week my top choice changes, but it was great to hear what others opinions were. I will make sure to post an announcement when the baby arrives:)
