Sebastian or Balthazar?

[name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] or [name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name]

Which of these two combos do you like better and why? Right now, they seem to be our front-runners if this litte one is a boy.

[name]Balthazar[/name] is actually a newcomer to the list. It’s always been one of my guilty pleasure favorites, but DH wasn’t so keen on it at first, so we didn’t consider it when we first started working on combinations. However, it’s grown on him, and now he thinks it sounds really cool, especially paired with [name]William[/name].

[name]Sebastian[/name] was a contender for the first name, but we aren’t a fan of any of the nicknames. It’s my fourth favorite boys’ name and in hubby’s top 10, so we definitely love it, but lately I’ve been wondering if the ending sounds too similar to the end of [name]William[/name]? I mean, it’s not an exact match, but there’s only a letter difference between “iam” and “ian” and there isn’t much of a difference between m and n…

Other combos still under consideration are [name]William[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] (DH’s middle name), [name]William[/name] [name]Patrick[/name] (after my mother [name]Patricia[/name]), [name]William[/name] [name]Oliver[/name], [name]William[/name] [name]Theodore[/name], [name]William[/name] [name]Frederick[/name], and [name]William[/name] [name]Patrick[/name] [name]James[/name] (honoring both my parents), but I definitely like [name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] or [name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name] the best at the moment.

[name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name] would be my pick. [name]Balthazar[/name] would be a rare and quirky mn for the more traditional [name]William[/name]. I love [name]Sebastian[/name] but [name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] have sound-alike endings. Second choice would be [name]William[/name] [name]Theodore[/name].

I agree with mischa!

I really like [name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name] more than I thought I would when I clicked the post. It’s so quirky and interesting next to the ever popular and stately [name]William[/name]. [name]Sebastian[/name] just doesn’t do as much for [name]William[/name] as [name]Balthazar[/name] does.

[name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name] is infinitely cooler than [name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]. [name]Balthazar[/name] is quirky, energetic, and very unusual. It really lights up next to the classic, common [name]William[/name]. I’m not a fan of [name]Sebastian[/name] at all, and it just doesn’t do anything to complement [name]William[/name].

[name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name] all the way!

[name]Balthazar[/name] seems like a heavy name for a child to carry. [name]Sebastian[/name] has a nice ring to it on it’s own. So my vote goes to [name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]. (: I guess it helps that [name]Sebastian[/name] is the name of one of my all-time favorite fictional characters…

[name]Balthazar[/name] makes we think of someone evil. [name]Sebastian[/name] is so much more friendly and [name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] is a very handsome name!

[name]Hi[/name]!

My pick would definitely be [name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name]. I love the classic name [name]William[/name] paired with the uncommon name of [name]Balthazar[/name]. As a whole, it is an immensely handsome and masculine combo! That and their are two of my favorite names.

Warmly,

[name]Sahar[/name]

[name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name]! So fresh yet handsome!

[name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] is nowhere near as exciting, and I imagine there are already a lot of boys with that combo running about.

[name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name] sounds amazing! It has a better flow than [name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] for the reasons you stated. Second choice would be [name]William[/name] [name]Patrick[/name] [name]James[/name]. Good [name]Luck[/name]!

[name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name]. [name]Balthazar[/name] is not my style for a first name but it’s kind cool in the middle spot. I agree it flows a little better (not that middle names get said that often). I’m a fan of two middle names, especially family names, so [name]William[/name] [name]Patrick[/name] [name]James[/name] would also get my vote.

[name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] is lovely, but I’ve been liking [name]Balthazar[/name] a lot lately, and I agree with the general consensus that [name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name] is really refreshing. My vote would be for [name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name].

Thanks, everyone! We’re about 90% certain now that we’ll be going with [name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name] if this LO is a boy. We’ll keep [name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] in our back pocket just in case, but I’m head-over-heels in love with [name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name], so I don’t think we’ll need it.

Agree completely. It’s so cool. You get the [name]Magi[/name] connection, an oil tycoon, and an absolutely memorable name. It really works paired with something as modest and unassuming as [name]William[/name].

I prefer [name]William[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] and don’t think the endings are too similar. [name]Balthazar[/name] seems a little heavy. Of course, if you love it and what to use it, I think going for [name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name] is great, as familiar, traditional [name]William[/name] balances out the quirky [name]Balthazar[/name].

I love all your other combos, though, particularly [name]William[/name] [name]Frederick[/name]!
