What are your thoughts on the name [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] ?
Thank you
It’s not my style but it’s quite stylish. It makes me think of the crab though.
I love the name and I love the nickname sebby for it.
I love it!
I adore [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], especially with the nickname [name_m]Bastian[/name_m].
I like it. My first association is Brideshead Revisited, but I think that’s going out of fashion. It’s got some great nn options; besides the ones already mentioned, there’s also [name_m]Baz[/name_m]. Plus it allows for other princess-y sister names.
The only downside for me? It’s a little bit dandy and pretentious (again, Brideshead Revisited). I’d probably opt for something like [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] with a little more weight to it.
I like it. It wouldn’t be something I’d probably use, but I mean it’s a good, strong name. It’ll age well too. I’m not a wild fan of Sebby, [name_m]Seb[/name_m] or [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] as nicknames though, they seem kind of off to me for some reason. If I were to pick a nickname I’d probably go with [name_m]Ian[/name_m]. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] on its own is still very handsome though.
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is a handsome name. I also love [name_m]Bastian[/name_m].
I answered already in the baby name section to your thread but I’ll post here too since this one is getting more responses!
I looove [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. If I have a son this will most likely be his name. I’ve loved it for about 5 years now! I say it as 4 syllables instead of 3. More closer to the [name_m]German[/name_m] pronunciation - https://www.nordicnames.de/gn/audio/Jungs/Sebastian.mp3. Which works for me because my father is 100% [name_m]German[/name_m]. I don’t mind the other pronunciations, however. It’s gotten increasingly popular (#24 in the US) but that doesn’t bother me to the slightest because I enjoy it so much.
I love the name, and even though a lot of people associate it with the crab from the [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid, I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing.
MY 5.5 year old is [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], nn Bash. We rarely encounter other [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]'s despite its popularity, and the feedback on his name and nickname is overwhelmingly positive.
I think it’s really handsome! I like the nn [name_m]Seb[/name_m] best.
The crab definitely isn’t the first thing I think of, but even if he was it’s not an awful association.
(I know siblings who were D0minic [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and D0r0thy [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], their parents didn’t even notice the connection until the kids pointed it out years later. They also both have the second middle name Macbeth).
