Second child, different style!

Hello all! My SO and I are expecting a little girl late this year.
I already have a daughter from my previous relationship, her name is [name_f]Mary[/name_f].

My current partner has a different taste in names, he likes names that are slightly longer and frillier, while I prefer the names that sound less frilly. We were able to compile a list of names we could agree on.

Would you guys be so kind to review them a little bit, and maybe tell us your favorites and least favorites? Suggestions are always welcome as well

Our list:
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonore[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliane[/name_f]/[name_f]Eliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]/[name_f]Coraline[/name_f]/[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Arianne[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Sara[/name_f]

With [name_f]Mary[/name_f], my favourites are [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Celeste[/name_f].

I have personal experience with name-envy, I was always jealous of my siblings’ more modern names. I do think a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] would feel a little jealous of her sister named [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] or [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], but it sorta depends on how old she is? If she’s 18 or something, it wouldn’t matter much, but if [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is 5, I suspect there will come a time when she’s a little envious of her sister. It could be that I’m only overly sensitive about this since I’ve had the feeling myself, but for me, some sort of equality between sibling names is super-important!
I’m a little over it now, I kind of grew out of it, but I also wanted to change or add to my name for years, and the only reason I stopped wanting that is because I know I was named after both my grandmothers and I love the story behind that, so I’ve grown to love my name more as well. (Also, if I changed it I would lose the alliteration :P)

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]:
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]

I recommend avoiding [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] with sibling [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. “[name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]”.

I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as sisters.

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is one of my favorites! With [name_f]Mary[/name_f], I love:

[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] the most with [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I think these are less frilly, and therefore pairs better with [name_f]Mary[/name_f].

Hello and congratulations on your baby girl! That’s a little bit of a tough situation you’ve got going on, but nothing impossible to handle =]

I will say that my taste is closer to your husband’s so beware of my bias lol

Like

[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] - It just sounds very pretty, and it’s very close to [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], which I love.
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]/[name_f]Coraline[/name_f]/[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] all of these, they’ve really been growing on me recently, and bonus, they’re not too frilly! They are long, though.
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] - Cute! I do prefer [name_f]Aliana[/name_f] and other variants beginning with A, but this name is adorable either way.
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] - Another name that I have really grown fond of recently. It’s so feminine and delicate sounding.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - This is such a great alternative to [name_f]Emily[/name_f]! I like it with either the -line or -leen pronunciation =] which do you prefer?
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - I’ve loved this name for a long time. It’s so beautiful! Really cute nn options, as well.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - Very pretty, you (or maybe it’s your husband) may also like [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]. =]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name! It’s gorgeous. I love [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] just as much, too. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you two feel about that name?
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f] - Pretty and girly, just my style!
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - I really like this name, but I personally prefer the [name_f]Violette[/name_f] spelling because that’s just how I roll, haha.

Neutral

[name_f]Arianne[/name_f] - This name is not bad at all, it’s just that I very much prefer [name_f]Arianna[/name_f]. Without that A at the end, I feel neutral about it. [name_m]Hence[/name_m], it being here =p
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] - I went back and forth trying to decide if I didn’t like this name, or just felt neutral about it. I kind of dislike it, but I don’t hate it. It just sounds like a lot of words to me, like bridge, budget, midget, pigeon…you get it.
[name_f]Camille[/name_f] - I can tell that it’s a pretty name, it’s just truly not my style. I say truly because a lot of the time I’ll say, “not my style” but I’ll really mean that I just think it’s ugly, haha. Not in this case. Actually, this same exact thing can be said for the last three names in this section, as well.
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f] - Pretty, but Nms.
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] - Pretty, but Nms
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - Pretty, but Nms.

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/[name_f]Leonore[/name_f] - Sorry, it just sounds like an old person name to me. Also, I just hate that [name_f]Nor[/name_f] sound.
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] - This reminds me of the American girl dolls. That’s not why I don’t like it, though. I really hate word names. I can’t explain it D=
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] - [name_f]Helen[/name_f] also seems old to me, and not even the extra A can change that for me, unfortunately.
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - Oh no, I just keep thinking “bologna” =O! This doesn’t really seem like a feminine name to me, either.
[name_f]Sara[/name_f] - I feel like this name is plain in my opinion. But like I said, I have frilly, girly girl tastes. Lol

I think you two have a really great list, and once you’ve narrowed it down a bit more, I’d love to suggest some middles! You should also make a poll =]

I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f], as well as a lot of the names on your list!

[name_f]Camille[/name_f]- I like this. It’s feminine but not super frilly, which seems to be what you’re aiming for.
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] - This is a lovely name, but given the popularity of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] it probably wouldn’t be my first choice.
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - I like this a lot!
[name_f]Leonore[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] - Also like.
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] - Beautiful.
[name_f]Eliane[/name_f]/[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] - Not my style. It sounds kind of made-up to me.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f].
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] - I like this name a lot, but it has different pronunciations, which could be a downside.
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]/[name_f]Coraline[/name_f]/[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] - [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is my favorite out of these three.
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] - I really like this name, but sometimes I think all the hard consonant sounds make it seem a little harsh somehow.
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f] - I like this name, but I feel like it’s slightly dated.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] the name, but agree with abertawe that I would avoid having sisters named [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u]! So pretty.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - I really like this, but the [name_f]Em[/name_f]- sound is very trendy so personally I wouldn’t use it. Definitely not a bad choice, though.
[name_f]Arianne[/name_f] - Not my style.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - So gorgeous! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t know if I love it with [name_f]Mary[/name_f], though.
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f] - I like this.
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - Like.
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] - Like. But if you use the “s” spelling she’ll probably have to correct people a lot.
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] - I think this is such a light, pretty name.
[name_f]Sara[/name_f] - I feel like I’ve known a million Saras/Sarahs in my life, so it feels worn out to me. However, it is a beautiful classic name and would make a good sister name for [name_f]Mary[/name_f].

Overall, my favorites are [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f].

With [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] stand out. They all go really well as [name_f]Mary[/name_f]'s sister, imo.

[name_f]Mary[/name_f]'s versatility is one of my favorite things about the name. It goes with every name on your list. My favorites:

[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]

I find all of these names go really well with [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] best in general. I really like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. My least favourite names with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] are [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f],and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. Good luck!

I really love a lot of the names on your list, so I have a lot of favorites.

You have so many beautiful names! My favorites are:

[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]

I think all of these go great with [name_f]Mary[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] with [name_f]Mary[/name_f], timeless and beautiful.
I also like:
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Jillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Terra[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]

I’d go with [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
Or
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

Both have slight religious ties while feeling modern so [name_f]Mary[/name_f] won’t feel out of place or left out in the sibset.

I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] go very nicely together! And I also like [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f].

Favorites:
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]

The ones I like best with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] include: [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] & [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].

I really like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] with:

[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] classic list, I think all would work well stylistically with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] honestly!

My favourite sister names;
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Leonore[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Arianne[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Sara[/name_f]

My personal favourites are [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].

[name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] are ones I don’t think work particularly well but none of them are unusable… maybe [name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ([name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is all I hear!)
