I’ll start by saying that big sister’s name is [name]Cecilia[/name]. My husband loves the name [name]Stella[/name]. I love it too, but am hearing it a lot more lately. I don’t care about popularity, but would you call it trendy? Plus someone told me earlier that it sounds a bit hissy with [name]Cecilia[/name]. I don’t want to be speaking basilisk when I call them (shout to all the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] fans). The name I am most drawn to is [name]Caroline[/name]. [name]Both[/name] sisters’ names would start with a C, (I infer from reading these forums that a lot of people don’t like that) but don’t sound matchy to me. Plus they both have fun songs attached to the name.
Can my husband love a name enough for both of us? Which name do you prefer? What to do?
[name]Stella[/name] is a little much with [name]Cecilia[/name]. It has too many ssss sounds. I don’t think it’s necessarily trendy, but it is in the midst of a large revival.
I’ve never cared for [name]Caroline[/name], and I think it has a different feel then [name]Cecilia[/name]. But they could go nicely together. They aren’t matchy at all.
[name]Hope[/name] that helps!
I prefer [name]Caroline[/name] personally, but I don’t think [name]Stella[/name] & [name]Cecilia[/name] sound bad together. I must admit that the matching first initial doesn’t bother me- I wouldn’t do it on purpose, but I wouldn’t eliminate all same letter names either! I also must admit that I might be drawn to [name]Caroline[/name] more because it’s less popular lately and that stuff does matter to me…
I think both are nice, but [name]Caroline[/name] is prettier & more classic/substantial…but if you said [name]Estelle[/name] or [name]Estella[/name] ir [name]Estrella[/name] I might pick differently…those three are much prettier & complete feeling & rare imo
I far prefer [name]Caroline[/name], I like the nickname [name]Caro[/name] ( pronounced Care-o or Car-o) and I think that [name]Stella[/name] is too trendy. I do agree that [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Cecilia[/name] sound hissy and I would avoid that, if only because it will be hard on you. I know that others might have a problem with two “C” names but they don’t sound matchy and it still gives the sisters their own unique sound. I think that [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Cecilia[/name] are more matchy than [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Cecilia[/name] are.
I think you need to find a name that you both love. [name]Stella[/name] may be a mouthful when said with [name]Cecilia[/name]. Maybe use [name]Stella[/name] as a middle name. [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Stella[/name], maybe? Also, [name]Ella[/name], rather than [name]Stella[/name], might be a lovely compromise
I think [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Cecelia[/name] are tough to say when you have yell them both out at the same time. I love [name]Caroline[/name] I feel like it fits perfectly with [name]Cecelia[/name]!
I think [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] are to "ssss"y together. Especially since [name]Cecilia[/name] has a double “s” sound. [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] would make a lovely duo, and I am not one to care about the same letter being “matchy”. I say if you love the name then go for it, even if you end up having two Cs, one R, and three Ws. Haha. Matchy, to me, would be if you did [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name], for example. shudder That would be scarily matched.
I find [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] to be too “s” sound heavy. [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] seem to go much better together.
I don’t like [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] together… too many similar sounds, even though they don’t seem the same. I think [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] go great together and I love the idea of [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Stella[/name] as a compromise. [name]Estelle[/name] is also a good choice. Since it doesn’t end with the same “uh” sound as [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Stella[/name], it doesn’t sound nearly so matchy.
Op I believe you mean you don’t want to be speaking parseltongue when you call them. The basilisk is a creature not a language. Since it is a large snake people who can speak parseltongue, the language of snakes, can communicate with it.
Personally I do think [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] are a bit heavy on the ‘s’ sounds. [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] are much prettier together.
[name]Stella[/name] is a nice name, but I think [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] sound best together. As pps have pointed out, [name]Estelle[/name] is another nice option with [name]Cecilia[/name].
I like alliteration in names. I don’t know why people have a problem with it honestly or associate it just with the Duggars. People have been doing it for years. I think it creates a sense of cohesion in your family.
My sister and I both have ‘s’ names. My only advice is just don’t name your children both similar sounding ‘c’ names and it will be fine. For example, my older sister is [name]Shonda[/name] ([name]Shawn[/name]-Duh) and I’m [name]Shana[/name] ([name]Shan[/name]-uh) and our names are so similar our mom sometimes mixes up our names or makes some butcherization like “[name]Shay[/name]-awn-duh.”
[name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] are charming together and sound distinct from one another.
I find [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] to be a little similar for siblings- Like [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] together.
Still pretty similar though in my book. A little matchy, but pretty!
Out of curiosity, are there any other names you’re both considering?
It sounds like you are each in love with one name; maybe thinking about some others would help you reach a compromise?
I think [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] have too may ‘ssss’ sounds when said together. I dont think [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] are too matchy with the same initial because they begin with different sounds. Good luck!
