Second guessing myself...

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!

We were set on a name, but I keep second guessing myself… What are your thoughts?

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] - The original name. Is it too dated or harsh sounding? It is an honor name and we
love the nickname potential. This is the name my husband would really like to use.

[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] - I love the sound of it, but we aren’t french. Would it seem pretentious to use it?

or ditch it in the first name slot and go with:

[name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]

[name_f]Corinne[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]

Thanks!

I think [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] is beautiful, strong, and classic! It is my favorite of your options. [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is my second favorite.

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] is a really nice combo and I agree with the above comment-- it is beautiful, strong, and classic! My other thought if you wanted to combine [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] is [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f].

I think both [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] are elegant and stunning, and I’d use whichever spelling you prefer, as both have been used by people throughout many cultures. I don’t think it’s pretentious at all, and [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is a beautiful name. (Bonus: It’s the birth name of [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Angelou[/name_f]!) Although the [name_m]French[/name_m] origins of [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] are more apparent than the Greek origins of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], I’d say that you definitely don’t have to be either to use one or the other. Outside of [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f], which is my favorite, I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]. [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] is so underused, and I love its beauty and strength.

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] is so, so lovely.

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] has all the best nicknames, and I love how soft and cosy [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] sounds next to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].

Perfection.

I like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] and [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] -I’d probably choose [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] personally - it’s lovely!
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is a little spin on the names that came to mind

Wow some lovely combos!
While [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is also beautiful, I love [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]/[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] as first names. [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] doesn’t strike me as pretentious or too [name_m]French[/name_m] at all, it’s so sweet! Both names are classy, timeless and have adorable nicknames.

Both are great choices! [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] doesn’t sound too harsh but I do really love [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]. Both work great with [name_f]Elaine[/name_f].

I’m not sure what would be pretentious about using the [name_m]French[/name_m] variant of the name. Many [name_m]French[/name_m] names are commonly used in English speaking countries.

I love [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]–it’s romantic and classic.

I actually went to elementary school (early 2000s) with a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] and she went by [name_f]Lainey[/name_f]. It’s a little too old lady for my taste, but can work. I love [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and a nickname would take some of the fuss out.

Thank you all so much for your feedback! I now feel confident about keeping a form of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] as her first name.

Now to decide which one…

I love [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
