I’ve recently added Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] to my list, and I love it! Amélie honors my best friend (it was her name) who passed away in 2011, and also my great-grandmother (whose mn was [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]), plus all the veterans in my family (grandpa, dad, brother, sister!), and my unwavering love of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] (Much [name_f]Ado[/name_f] about Nothing is my second favorite Shakespearean play)! I think it’s so spunky and beautiful and unexpected, but so meaningful, too.
However, I do two middle names, and I’m struggling with the second MN. So far I’ve thought of these, but I’m not sure:
Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Eliane[/name_f]
Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] ([name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]? I prefer [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] in general, but I’m not sure which I prefer here)
Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] Séraphine
Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
Which of these do you like best, and any mn suggestions?
I love the name Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u]. And from your list, my favorite is Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f].
However, I’m not crazy about the flow and the length of that name, and if I were you I’d consider finding a one-syllable name you love and use that instead. Some suggestions:
I think [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] is great. Such a pretty combination.
In regards to the second middle name situation, I think the names listed above are pretty. I like [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] in particular. But prefer the flow of [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] and [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u]. They are less of a mouthful and more put together regarding sound.
I think if you want [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] followed by a second middle name it would work better with a shorter middle name. If longer it needs to be something whimsical and softer in sound.
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is nice. I much prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but I can see the appeal. I detest [name_u]Hero[/name_u]. I find it completely absurd. The [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] argument doesn’t work for me. He could have named a character anything, but it doesn’t make it useable.
First: I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] for a girl and both your reasons for using it ([name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] and the veterans) are beautiful ones.
My favorite combo is Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Eliane[/name_f], most likely because of the length. I would use as a second middle name something traditional where you live (so if you’re living in [name_f]England[/name_f], my top pick would be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - traditional name with traditional spelling).
Thank you! I understand that [name_u]Hero[/name_u] isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s nice to see someone stick up for it. It’s definitely not changing.
I’m American, so [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is more popular, but I’ve always liked [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] more, and both rank in the US. If I ever used it as a FN, I’d definitely spell it [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. I’ve grown to prefer [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] in this combo, too, I think.
Others had suggested shorter and spunkier names, and I had considered [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]/[name_u]Wren[/name_u] in particular, but I’m not sure about how [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] flows? I do think it looks gorgeous, though. I just felt that the shorter [name_u]Hero[/name_u] needed something longer to balance her out. I feel like I’m coming back to [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] more and more, although it always seems like I’m settling. I had been thinking of [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f], too, but something seemed a bit off about it.
I’m kind of shocked that people feel the need to tell you they hate [name_u]Hero[/name_u], when that isn’t what you actually asked. And not just because I think it’s a gorgeous name, but because that isn’t what you ASKED. yeesh. I like [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] best for the second mn.
I also like, depending on the syllables of your last name, the pattern of 3-2-1 for the first and middles. [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is lovely.
Uhm, since it’s written after Amélie, I somehow automatically pronounce [name_u]Hero[/name_u] the french way. As in Héro with silent H. ._. with this pronunciation I like Séraphine the most. Two accented french names and my tongue just slipped when pronouncing Hero the english way. If it should be Hero then I prefer [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. Sorry to make it complicated.
Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] is so beautiful! I love it so much! Wonderful combination. [name_u]Hero[/name_u] is such a darling name… for a complete combination, I love Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] Séraphine the most - simply stunning!
Aww, thank you! I was thinking the same thing, but I figured it wasn’t worth getting upset about. Some people hate [name_u]Hero[/name_u]. I get it. That doesn’t mean I won’t use it if I get the shot, though.
My current surname is two syllables, but who knows when I actually have a baby. I actually like the flow of something like [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] “Richlieu” (my dummy surname) better than [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] “Richlieu”, but maybe that’s just my ear? I might adopt while I’m still single, or we might use a hyphenated last name (I’d like to), or just his last name. I guess it depends on who the guy is. If I end up with a surname like “Richlieu-Mussorgsky”, though, lol, [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] would definitely be the better of the two options! (Or maybe just [name_f]Claire[/name_f], haha! Can you imagine being an Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] Séraphine Richlieu-Mussorgsky?!)
@[name_f]Luna[/name_f] - thanks for the tip! I hadn’t even considered that, since the [name_m]French[/name_m] word is spelled with an “S” on the end in the single form. So I hadn’t gone there, and probably wouldn’t on a daily basis. Unless in a [name_m]French[/name_m] context, I say [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] like [name_m]AH[/name_m]-muh-lee, I think, or sometimes the British AM-illy, which I absolutely adore (most Americans don’t say it, though). I think ah-mee-lee with anything remotely English after it sounds sort of awkward, too. Same thing happened with [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] [name_m]Conrad[/name_m]–I always end up emphasizing the second syllable of [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] because it sounds so weird to say a non-[name_m]French[/name_m] name after one so obviously [name_m]French[/name_m] (which [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] is!).
Thanks, everyone! I’m leaning toward [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] or now, although just now [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] have just popped into my head and I may give them a try. I’m not generally fond of [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]–I prefer [name_f]Clementina[/name_f]–but I think [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] could be really sweet.
I adore the name [name_u]Hero[/name_u] (I’m so happy to see that other people like it as well), and your reasons for using it just make it even more beautiful.
Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] is absolutely stunning!!! I also love Amélie [name_u]Hero[/name_u] Séraphine; the two [name_m]French[/name_m] names complement each other very well.
You’ve got some great suggestions here from other berries! I’ll try to avoid any repeats.
