Second round naming is hard! HELP!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries,

Only 10 weeks to go and we’re still looking for “the one” girl name. Like with our first, we are waiting to find out the gender but want to make sure we go into the hospital with just one or two names. We are both finding that it is SO much harder to find a name we love the second time! I am hoping you can make some suggestions based on some of the names we like. I feel like we’ve scoured every list on this site & looked at forums nightly…but there must be some that we’ve not considered or maybe we just have yet to fall in love with one. Sigh

I like [name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] & [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] (a mix of feminine and gender neutral). He likes [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]/[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] & [name_u]Skye[/name_u]…that said, this is the short list of names that we are both okay with using, excluding [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] (sounds weird with our last name) and I have soured a bit on [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] (love the nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m] but not [name_u]Kenzie[/name_u]). If you took a peek at the long list, you’d find that we tend to both like names that are surnames and/or names that are Scottish or Irish.

Our girl is [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u]. We loved how gender neutral it is and also the musical middle name.

PLEASE please send us some ideas or let us know if you like any of the names on our current list as as sib set with our daughter.

Thank you!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] . Like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] best with [name_u]Finley[/name_u] - [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] would be my second choice.

These might be way off, but here are a few suggestions:

[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Lelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]

I think that from your list I like [name_u]Logan[/name_u] and from your husbands list I like [name_u]Skye[/name_u].

[name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_u]Skye[/name_u] would be a great siblings set. I also see [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]MacKenzie[/name_u] as a good one. A good gender neutral is [name_u]Morgan[/name_u].

[name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] are great with each other.

[name_f]Cadence[/name_f], [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], and [name_f]Aria[/name_f] come to mind. Good luck!

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Morgan[/name_u]

I like [name_f]Greer[/name_f] from the suggestions given. It’s a great name, although I might be influenced by an adorable girl I know who carries that name. [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_f]McKenzie[/name_f] has a nice ring, to my ear. And I like [name_f]Greer[/name_f] with [name_u]Finley[/name_u].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] with sister named [name_u]Finley[/name_u]!

Off your lists, I think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] are lovely and would be nice with [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u]. I especially like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. Another suggestion is [name_u]Delaney[/name_u]. Maybe [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]?

I think [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], or [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] sound divine with [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u]! I really, really love [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]!

From your lists I like:
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_u]Skye[/name_u]

Suggestions:
[name_u]Lyric[/name_u]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] (nn [name_f]Elly[/name_f], maybe)
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]
[name_f]Niamh[/name_f]
[name_f]Honor[/name_f]
[name_u]Dylan[/name_u]
[name_f]Roisin[/name_f]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u]

Combo Ideas:
[name_u]Lyric[/name_u] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Roisin[/name_f]
[name_f]Roisin[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u]

I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] are outliers for you. You both together love surnames/gender-neutral names. I would go with something like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u].

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
I’m sorry that you’re finding it much harder to choose this time, and hope I can help a little with some suggestions.

I really like some of the names you already have on your shortlist. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] are both classics, and I particularly love that you’ve gone for [name_f]Kate[/name_f] on her own, rather than [name_f]Katherine[/name_f].

That said, I do think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] clashes a little with the more neutral [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and so wouldn’t pair the two together. [name_f]Kate[/name_f] on the other hand sounds quite nice with [name_u]Finley[/name_u] – I don’t know if you use a nickname for your daughter, but [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] sound very cute.

I also like [name_u]Skye[/name_u], but am not drawn to [name_u]Logan[/name_u] or [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is sweet, but if [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] sounds odd with your last name, I would discount it.

I have to agree with you on [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]. Given that you’ve gone for a more original name for your first daughter, I think perhaps [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] is slightly too popular and I’m personally not keen on [name_u]Kenzie[/name_u].

The one name I really do [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] on your list is [name_u]Marlow[/name_u]/e. It’s actually a favourite of my own, but I really do like the way it sounds with [name_u]Finley[/name_u]. Marl, [name_f]Mar[/name_f], [name_m]Lowe[/name_m], [name_u]Mo[/name_u] and M are all possible nicknames, and the lilting ‘l’ goes nicely with your daughter’s name.

As for musical middle names, there are a whole range of options that you could go for if you wanted a similar pattern for a second daughter.

[name_u]Harmony[/name_u], Hymn, [name_f]Viola[/name_f] and [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] all fit nicely with [name_u]Harper[/name_u]. You might also consider [name_f]Melody[/name_f], [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f], Elegy, [name_f]Etude[/name_f], [name_u]March[/name_u], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_u]Reed[/name_u] or [name_f]Minuet[/name_f].

If you like Scottish/Irish names and surnames, perhaps [name_m]Maclean[/name_m] could be a wild card option? [name_f]Lea[/name_f] could always be a nickname, as could [name_m]Mac[/name_m] which was the one you liked for [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]. [name_f]Malley[/name_f] is a popular Irish surname, whilst [name_f]Mallory[/name_f] offers a slightly more digestible version of the last name.

In terms of musical middle names, I love [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] – it’s perfect for a second daughter and sibling, and works beautifully with [name_u]Harper[/name_u]. Hymn is also nice if you don’t mind the religious connotations; I think any of these could would work well with the names you have on your list .

Here are some pairings and suggestions that you might like:

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Lyric[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] Hymn
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Harmony[/name_u]
[name_u]Skye[/name_u] [name_u]Reed[/name_u]
[name_u]Skye[/name_u] [name_u]March[/name_u]
[name_u]Skye[/name_u] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Lyric[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_f]Mallory[/name_f] [name_u]Piper[/name_u]

As for sibsets, I like:

[name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] (‘[name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f]’), [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_u]Skye[/name_u] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_m]Maclean[/name_m].

I also think [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] would work well. I love [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] [name_m]Maclean[/name_m] - [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] [name_m]Maclean[/name_m] would sound perfect.

I like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] best with [name_u]Finley[/name_u]. Very cute!

I completely agree. I like [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_u]Skye[/name_u] a lot. FYI - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u], it has a GREAT flow.

I think [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] sounds too similar to [name_u]Finley[/name_u], so if it also doesn’t sound great with your surname, I’d take it off the list (as great a name as it is).

[name_u]Logan[/name_u] still feels very masculine to me whereas the rest of your names have more unisex use (at least in my experience). [name_u]Marlow[/name_u]/[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] are my favourites of the unisex names you list: neither sounds too similar to [name_u]Finley[/name_u], both are (as far as I know) well known to be unisex names these days (as is [name_u]Finley[/name_u]), and I just plain like them both. I also love the idea of [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f]: [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] feels really different stylistically than [name_u]Finley[/name_u] to me, but somehow I think [name_f]Kate[/name_f] works really well. [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]? [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]? [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]?

Thank you SO much Berries!!! You are so bang on with suggestions and have made me feel more certain of the names we love. Less than four weeks to go (so anytime now!) and we are getting closer. We’ve decided to use [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as the mn to honour my very best friend since we were 7. [name_u]Logan[/name_u] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] are the top contenders for fn but I still like to keep the other two in the mix. I may try doing a poll in a few days. For now, which do you prefer? Our last name has two syllables, starts with a C and ends with ING.

[name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

Thank you! <3

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]!

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

I’ve always had a soft spot for [name_u]Logan[/name_u] on a girl. The first [name_u]Logan[/name_u] I ever met was a beautiful little thing with the singing voice of an angel. The next [name_u]Logan[/name_u] I met? A sweet little girl who did become an angel. [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] sounds great with [name_u]Finley[/name_u]. My second vote would go to [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].
