Second thoughts about Edmund

Please ignore

I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]! Seems fresher than [name_m]Edward[/name_m], which feels just as “formal” to me. Besides, there are plenty of “stuffy” names that are popular or rising—[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], etc.

For the record, I love [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Alec[/name_m], but [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is much more distinctive, and it sounds like a name you both like. Go for it!

I like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] as much as I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m], if not [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] a little more. I agree with pp: stuffy is “in” and [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] is a solid, reliable nn. I really like [name_m]Peter[/name_m] too but only in contexts where the full name can be enforced ([name_m]Pete[/name_m] is only OK). If you choose [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]Alec[/name_m] is great as is [name_m]Xander[/name_m]. But I think most names are second guessed - overthinking is part of a pregnancy!

I like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] best of all your options. [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is nice too but I find [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] more distinctive. I find it sophisticated, not stuffy. And [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] is so down to earth, it takes away any stuffiness, even if there were stuffiness in the name. I also like [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and think that has more of an easy going vibe than [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m].
[name_m]Peter[/name_m] is my husband’s name and it has served him well.

Personally, I find [name_m]Edward[/name_m] a bit stuffy and uptight. [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] feels more down-to-earth, friendlier. For a lack of better words, [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], to me, is more like a comfy pair of jeans while [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is a stiff suit.

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is handsome and much nicer than [name_m]Edward[/name_m] imo. [name_m]Peter[/name_m] does absolutely nothing for me at all. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is handsome too, but I prefer [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]

I agree, to me [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] sounds much more nicer than [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. I also really like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] nn [name_m]Alec[/name_m], but [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is my first choice

I think [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is an approachable enough name, especially with nn [name_m]Eddie[/name_m].
