I am due in about 9 weeks and I am having second thoughts on our name. We decided on [name]Everly[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Claire[/name]. I wanted a name that was unique and not overly feminine, so we finally decided on [name]Everly[/name]. [name]Alice[/name] was a name we had chosen when I was pregnant with my first daughter and has a lot of great personal references. [name]Claire[/name] is a name that my husband wanted. Her initials are a play on my first daughter, [name]Cadence[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Though, I like our name and the connection, I find I am second guessing our choice. I will hear a new name and like it or keep going back to other names I had. Some of the previous names were:
First Names:
[name]Anniston[/name]
[name]Averie[/name] (Spelling stays)
[name]Gemma[/name]
[name]Zoey[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]
Personally, I can’t stand [name]Everly[/name]. It’s such a pre-teen name. It feels made up and has no sustenance. I can’t picture a grown woman named [name]Everly[/name], let alone imagine her ever holding down a respectable job like being CEO of a company or President of the United States. Plus, the plethora of bad nicknames and teasing opportunities seems like a lot to me. ‘[name]Will[/name] you [name]Ever[/name]-leave me alone?’ etc.
[name]Everly[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Claire[/name]- This name is sweet and I like the double middles a lot. [name]Everly[/name] imo doesn’t have the heft & seriousness of [name]Gemma[/name] or [name]Sofia[/name]…I think those 2 would age better.
[name]Anniston[/name]- To me, this is unusable cause I just think [name]Jennifer[/name].
[name]Averie[/name]- not a fan in general and especially not with any alternate spellings
[name]Gemma[/name]- This is really pretty. I like it better than [name]Everly[/name]. I think [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is gorgeous.
[name]Zoey[/name]- This is cute and spunky, but doesn’t feel very adult to me.
[name]Sophia[/name]- This isn’t my style, but it is a versatile name that’s cute on a little girl and sophisticated on an adult.
Middle Names:
[name]Claire[/name]- it’s ok, not a favorite, a little bland, but as a mn I am neutral
[name]Quinn[/name]- I feel pretty much the same about this one, but I prefer [name]Claire[/name] because it feels more classic.
[name]Just[/name] my opinion though, [name]Everly[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is a nice name!
[name]Everly[/name] is indeed a very pretty word, but I’m not sure how I feel about using it as a name. From your list, I like [name]Gemma[/name] best.
I am going to change it up a little here and say that I really love the name [name]Everly[/name]. I think it is such a pretty name. It is not a classic, but to me it does have kind of a classy vibe. I think [name]Ever[/name] is a sweet nn, if you want one. I definitely disagree with the comment of an [name]Everly[/name] not holding down a respectable job, that just seems very silly and far reaching to me. Names like [name]Kenzi[/name], [name]Neveah[/name], etc seem juvenile to me. [name]Everly[/name] does not. It is different without being weird.
Sorry just felt like I had to stick up for this name a little bit, did not mean to go on so much there
and I [name]LOVE[/name] your combo of [name]Everly[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Claire[/name], it sounds perfect to me.
I think [name]Gemma[/name] is a nice choice from your list or [name]Avery[/name] (this spelling) I dont care for [name]Everly[/name] imo it lacks substancy and rhymes with “every” which is off putting for some irrational reason.
I’m not a fan of [name]Everly[/name]. I much prefer [name]Evelyn[/name], although it’s becoming quite popular.
Of your other choices, [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Zoey[/name] seem the most usable to me, although [name]Sophia[/name] is so common. I can’t stand [name]Avery[/name] spelled [name]Averie[/name], although I do like the name.
I do get a lot of people liking [name]Gemma[/name]. I keep coming back to it but I am not convinced I would use it. I like [name]Averie[/name]/[name]Avery[/name] but the rising popularity concerns me. That was the appeal of [name]Everly[/name]. It sounded ‘close’ to [name]Avery[/name] without the rise in popularity. But, I still keep going back to the name. Also, my name and my stepdaughter’s name begin with A. There is just something about [name]Cadence[/name] being the only one without an A that irks me.
I agree with cmarie3687 and jersey_gray. I think [name]Everly[/name] does age well. In fact I think it ages better than [name]Gemma[/name], which is a very dated name in the UK. There’s lots of Gemmas in their 20s here, but I still can’t imagine a 40- or 50-something [name]Gemma[/name]. I’ve only ever met dim or nasty Gemmas, so personally the name does not appeal.
