Seeking opinions on our girl name list

Hi berries,

I’m about a month away from my due date, and have had the hardest time deciding on a name for our little girl! There have been so many disagreements about it in my family that I would love to bring the discussion to this community for a less emotional conversation about it all

Here are some of the names I would love feedback on. (For the sake of brevity I won’t get into all of our baggage/ thoughts about each name, and would love to just hear what you all think)

Charlotte [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]

And very open to other suggestions for similar names. Thank you everyone!!! So grateful for this community of naming enthusiasts. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

These are all lovely and classic. [name_f]My[/name_f] vote goes to [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is a sunny name to me and will suit someone of all ages. It’s also not as popular as the others so will be more distinctive!

I love [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]! I’ve never met a little [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but would love to.

Maybe it would help if you concentrate on what type of name and feeling you want the name to convey.

I am guessing that the problem may be that you are trying to hard to please everyone else and still find a name that you love. Other people will come around - especially those that truly love you and your little one. It is truly impossible to please everyone so find names that you and your partner love and worry less about what others will think.

Charlotte is quite popular and would fit many girls. Does it’s popularity appeal to you or do your crave something a bit different?

Nora feels like a nice balance. I think it conveys spunk, intelligence, and would serve your daught well into old age.

Beatrice is not my favorite, but [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is adorable. I think it is vintage, but not as lovely as the other names on your list.

Kate is a classic. I don’t think it is as exciting as [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but it is a great name.

I used to dislike [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], but find myself suggesting it a lot lately. I think it is going to become more popular again.

I really like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. It has a lot of nickname possibilities - something to suit every girl.

If you like [name_f]Nora[/name_f], perhaps you would consider [name_f]Nola[/name_f]. It seems a bit softer. Maybe [name_u]Zola[/name_u] would work for you.

I think they’re all good options. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f].

I think if you lived in [name_f]England[/name_f] like me I’d go for [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but based off the posting time I doubt that. How popular it is in the USA makes me wonder if it’ll end up more trendy than the more timeless [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].

Conversely, [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] here has skyrocketed up, but obviously has not in the USA, so it would be the ‘trendier’ option here, but possibly the fresher option in the USA.

Charlotte is timeless, and I don’t think you can go wrong with it.

Beatrice [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] “flow” the best in my opinion. I’m a firm believer in all names having different syllables. So, for me, [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] or [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] Johannsson would work well (does that make sense?).

Also, in my opinion, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] would be even better than [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Good luck

Ingrid [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is my favourite and I also love [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. The only name I dislike on your list is [name_f]Nora[/name_f] - just has no appeal to me at all, unlike all your other lovely names.

other ideas: [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f].

I’m neutral about [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] (but i love [name_f]Bea[/name_f] as a nn) [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. The only name i really don’t like is [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f].

Charlotte 7/10 - really like this name, it is quite popular but I adore the nickname [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], all around a very sweet classic name

Nora 7/10 - not really my style but it’s a lovely name

Beatrice 9/10 - LOVE this one, do prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] but I adore this name too, such a feminine vintage name

Kate 5/10 - nothing against this name it’s just not really my cup of tea

Ingrid 8/10 - this name is really lovely I like it alot

Madeleine 10/10 - this name is my favourite! Its top on my list but with the middle name [name_f]Opal[/name_f], I don’t know why i just absolutely love [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]

So my favourites are [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], all names are lovely though I say go with which one you think fits your style the most

Ah naming is sooo hard I understand your struggles!

Charlotte [name_f]Mary[/name_f] ~ [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a lovely classic really elegant and regal in sound. I love the nickname [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. Great choice! [name_f]Mary[/name_f] sounds endearing with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].

Nora [name_f]Mary[/name_f] ~ Completely see the appeal in [name_f]Nora[/name_f] it’s a spunky vintage choice but for me [name_f]Nora[/name_f] just isn’t a favourite.

Beatrice [name_f]Mary[/name_f] ~ Very classical, elegant choice. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name also the nickname [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is sweet nickname. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is beautiful.

Kate [name_f]Mary[/name_f] ~ I like both [name_f]Kate[/name_f] & [name_f]Mary[/name_f] but for me I want to say [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] rather than [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] I just think the flow is off. Suggestion [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/Catherine [name_f]Mary[/name_f] nickname [name_f]Kate[/name_f]?

Ingrid [name_f]Mary[/name_f] ~ [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] feels quirky and understated I like the name. I think [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] sounds nice.

Madeleine [name_f]Mary[/name_f] ~ I think my very religious background made me think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] straightaway even though it’s not obviously. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not sure on this one despite both the names being lovely.

My favourite is [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] :purple_heart:
