This name keeps creeping back into my list. I know right now its bound to BONES (an American crime show for all our overseas Berries) but do you think 20 years from now if you met a man named [name]Seeley[/name] you would still think of Bones?
Not a fan of it at all. To me is sounds a little feminine but I’m not sure. I defiantly wouldn’t use it however I think [name]Seeley[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] is quite nice.
[name]David[/name] Boreanaz has this great talent of making girly names ([name]Angel[/name], [name]Seeley[/name]) feel masculine. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be able to see [name]Seeley[/name] on a guy because of [name]Celia[/name] and [name]Celie[/name]. That said, I can’t not hear “silly” when I hear [name]Seeley[/name] said out loud. [name]Seeley[/name] has a great meaning, but it just sounds, well, silly to me.
I actually like [name]Seeley[/name]. It’s in my top 20 for a boy but I won’t be able to use it as it sounds awful with my last name (also ending with a strong “ee” sound). And even if other people do think of “Bones”, [name]Seeley[/name] [name]Booth[/name] is such a masculine, interesting character.
I think the right person could make this masculine. My problem with it is the sound and that it feels a bit surname-y. Perhaps [name]Sweeney[/name], if you can get over the [name]Sweeney[/name] [name]Todd[/name] association.
I like [name]Seeley[/name] a lot. Great character on Bones and I really like the name on its own. I am really tired of so many boy names being dubbed “soft” or “feminine”. I say go for it… he and [name]Sequoia[/name] can hang out together (BTW I love the names in your signature!)
I never heard of [name]Seeley[/name] until [name]Seeley[/name] [name]Booth[/name], so the name seems very masculine to me. If I heard it before Bones, maybe I would feel it was less masculine, not sure, I just picture a strong, good looking, FBI agent. A soft sounding name on a boy/man is not a negative to me. [name]Seeley[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] is handsome. I think [name]Nils[/name] and [name]Seeley[/name] would be a great sibling set.
I like [name]Seeley[/name] (I should admit I’m a huge Bones fan). However, I think without that connection, the name might not sound as manly to me. It’s cute and quirky, but I can see some teasing potential.
When I hear [name]Seeley[/name] I think of mattresses ([name]Seeley[/name], Serta, [name]Spring[/name]-air, Stern & [name]Foster[/name]) from that old commercial.
Maybe Seelen? or Zeelen? or Zealand? would feel more masculine. Then you could use nn [name]Seeley[/name] or Zeeley when he’s young at least.
It sounds like a girly nickname to me (like a short form of [name]Cecilia[/name]) but also reminds me of [name]Sealy[/name] mattresses… so not a big fan!
Well, I am a huge fan of Bones so my immediate reaction to [name]Seeley[/name] is positive. It means blessed or lucky, depending on who you believe. Can’t imagine it on a girl and think with a strong middle name (perhaps not [name]Booth[/name] though) it is workable.
I just watched the newest Bones last night with a renewed appreciation of the name, so thank you!!!
[name]Seely[/name] or Seelie means “lucky/blessed” and also refers to “good fairies”/ The Seelie [name]Court[/name] of Fair folk. [name]Love[/name] the meaning and I love the sound.
