[name]How[/name] do you pronounce [name]Sela[/name]? I always thought it was See-la (which I believe is how actress [name]Sela[/name] [name]Ward[/name] pronounces her name and I don’t know of anyone else with the name) but Nameberry and some (not all) other sites say Seh-la. This is the only name my husband and I can agree on for a girl (we love it actually) and we don’t like the Seh-la pronunciation. Would it seem totally erroneous to use it and pronounce it See-la??
I pronounce it See-la, too, like [name]Sela[/name] [name]Ward[/name]. I’ve never heard the Seh-la pronunciation. Hmmm…
I had always thought it was See-la as in the actress [name]Sela[/name] [name]Ward[/name], but I have a friend named [name]Sela[/name] and she pronounces Sell-a.
I prefer See-la
I thought of it as See - la immediately.
I don’t think it matters if people pronounce it incorrectly. As soon as they meet her and know her name, it won’t matter. So many names can be pronouced a couple of different ways.
[name]Just[/name] think of the name [name]Megan[/name]. This can be Mee - gan or [name]Meg[/name] - ann. You don’t know until you meet the person. After being told, you never forget. I’ve got friends who pronounce this name both of those ways haha.
You could spell it Seala to help but I like the [name]Sela[/name] spelling.
