The only [name_f]Selah[/name_f] I’ve ever known pronounced her name SAY-luh, and that would be my first guess for pronunciation if I ever met another one.
I think some people might initially mispronounce it, but I think it would be easy to correct people. I don’t think it would be a huge problem.

I’ve heard both the Say-luh and the Sell-uh prononounciation. If that helps, here is howe Emeli Sande pronounces it in her song. Emeli Sande - Selah (link)

I live next to a city named [name_f]Selah[/name_f] and everyone including myself pronounce it as See-lah, but Say-lah is also nice.

[name_m]Reading[/name_m] the name of this thread I automatically read [name_f]Selah[/name_f] as “sell-uh”. I don’t know anyone nor have I met anyone with this name before, and I didn’t think to pronounce it Say-luh until I saw the actual poll. I guess it can be a mixed bag, but I don’t think anyone would fight you on the correct pronunciation since it’s a unique name.

I was first introduced to it through the movie [name_f]Selah[/name_f] and the Spades, where it’s pronounced sell-uh, but I haven’t heard one “proper” pronunciation of it, so I think they’re all equally valid and easily correctable to the one you’d want!

whenever we use this word in bible readings we say ‘sell-uh’ I’d never heard it as anything else, until it was mentioned on here a few weeks ago and someone said they say it ‘see-luh’

It’s a [name_m]Kanye[/name_m] west song. Listen to how he says it.
I think it’s so pretty

The only [name_f]Selah[/name_f] I know pronounces it Say-luh!
I think all three pronunciations are pretty though!!

(also, in my accent, [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] doesn’t sound like any of those )

Haha, I always use the [name_m]Emeli[/name_m] [name_f]Sande[/name_f] song to justify the SAY-luh pronunciation too. Mainly because it’s my favourite way to say it, but also because it’s a beautiful song and it gives me a good excuse to listen to it again!
