I recently found love for this beautiful name, I adore the sound and the meaning and find it beautiful. However I am wondering about the pronunciation, I have been saying it like See-Lah although I know it can also be Say-Lah. Any thoughts or middle name suggestions? Thank you
I used to say it like See-la and then heard it the other way and now I’m also unsure of what is most common. I guess my point is that I would ask how they pronounce it if I encountered someone with that name.
Growing up in a religious environment, I heard this said a lot (not so much as a name until the last few years) and it was always say-lah. [name_f]Gorgeous[/name_f] name, I think!
I like it paired with something simple like [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
I say it as say-lah! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites would be [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Selah[/name_f]! I intuitively would say See-lah before I met a Say-lah. Either works for me! I tend to prefer the cadence of 2-1 syllables for first & middles, but here are a few ideas:

[name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]

[name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_u]Sloane[/name_u]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
I always said it SEE-lah, I don’t like the say-luh pronunciation. I think it’s a stunning name! Very sweet and strong
I say ‘Say-luh’ but I’ve heard it as ‘see-luh’ and ‘seh-luh’, so I’d probably ask. I like the say-luh one best
Either way, I quite enjoy all of them!

selah is so calm and pretty - i think it’s just darling !! i would instinctively say sey-la, and my second guess would be seh-la (like sella). see-la wouldn’t be an intuitive pronunciation for me, though i do think it is really lovely. with that pronunciation, she might get mixed up a lot for celia, though.
middle name thoughts:
selah valentine
selah darling
selah juliette
selah mari
selah madeline
selah daisy
selah gracie
selah bay
selah violette
selah felicity
selah verity
selah harriet
selah romane
selah fay
I’ve always pronounced it like seh-luh (like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] without the T) but I’m pretty sure it’s most often say-luh (isn’t it biblical in some way?)
I would say say-la. Which is why I can’t quite get away with it tbh, sounds like sailor. If it wasn’t for this I’d think it soft and pretty.
I firstly assumed this name was a spelling variant of a name I grew up knowing, [name_f]Cella[/name_f] (SEH-luh), but I love the name [name_f]Selah[/name_f] (SAY-luh) too. It’s sweet, and it’s heavily holy to me.

Her nickname is Sé (say).
