What are some names that you only like spelled a certain way? I tend to be very selective with how I spell my names, so I was wondering if anyone else is like that too?
[name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to disagree with my names and opinions. I put my reasons down for the certain spelling because I love a good name discussion.

Mine:
Summary
[name_f]Adelyn[/name_f]: [name_f]Adelynn[/name_f] & [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] only. I might be tolerant of [name_f]Adalynn[/name_f].
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]: Only [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is acceptable to my brain.
[name_u]Zoe[/name_u]: Only [name_u]Zoe[/name_u]. Sadly not [name_f]Zoey[/name_f], [name_u]Zooey[/name_u], or [name_f]Zoi[/name_f].
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]: I’m sorry, but I can only do [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. No [name_f]Karoline[/name_f] or [name_f]Carolyne[/name_f].
[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]: I may be partial to my own name, but I only like [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] & [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f].
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]: I only like [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], not any of the other variants.
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]: I only like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] & [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. The [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] & [name_f]Vivianne[/name_f] spellings just look silly to me for some reason.
[name_f]Aaliyah[/name_f]: The only variant of this name I like is [name_f]Aliya[/name_f].
yeah, actually the name is [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f], I can only see it being spelled [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] because it was my best friends name, and since she passed away I can’t help but see the other spellings as being wrong.
I second [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f].
Please for the love of everything I wish people would stop putting “y” in every vowel place ever. That’s my annoyance, especially when they then don’t pronounce it as the “y” sound would make there!
I feel similar about [name_u]Zoe[/name_u]! I’m afraid it’s [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] for me though (sleeker and more concise) but [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is growing on me and works better in some combos
There are plenty where I like or don’t mind different spellings, but here are some where I do:
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u]: maybe [name_u]Sloan[/name_u] could grow on me, maybe for a boy, but [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] looks far more complete and balanced to me
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]: not [name_f]Maybelle[/name_f] for me - I like the concise [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] more
[name_u]Reilly[/name_u]: I don’t know - I just like how this looks and feels
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_m]Raphael[/name_m]: I put these together as the ‘ph’ could be replaced by an ‘f’ - nothing wrong with that, just the ‘ph’ is more visually appealing to me
[name_u]Cleo[/name_u]: I like the rounder, more gentler look to [name_f]Clio[/name_f]
[name_f]Waverley[/name_f] and [name_u]Quincey[/name_u]: over [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] and [name_u]Quincy[/name_u], basically because of literary references
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is the biggest one. [name_u]Superior[/name_u] to [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] in a hundred ways.
I also second Caroline/Carolyn-these are not the same name! [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is Car-o-line while [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] is Ca-ro-lyn.
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] is my main one. It just looks much cleaner and classier than the other spellings. [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and [name_u]Eliot[/name_u] are spellings I prefer, but I don’t mind [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_u]Eliott[/name_u] are much worse imo. I also only line [name_u]Bennet[/name_u], not [name_u]Bennett[/name_u]. Finally, if it is a word name, it should be spelled like the word. No [name_f]Paige[/name_f], [name_u]Saige[/name_u], [name_m]Forrest[/name_m], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], etc.
I have weird pickiness over using ie vs y endings on names
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] not [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] or [name_f]Maizie[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f] not [name_f]Milly[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_u]Holly[/name_u], [name_f]Polly[/name_f], not [name_f]Mollie[/name_f], [name_f]Hollie[/name_f], or [name_f]Pollie[/name_f] (Molly is my own name so that may be where this stems from)
[name_u]Billie[/name_u] not [name_u]Billy[/name_u]
Then other names just preference and/or simplicity of spelling:
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] not [name_f]Winnifred[/name_f]
[name_u]Milo[/name_u] not [name_m]Mylo[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] not [name_u]Eliot[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] or [name_u]Eliott[/name_u]
[name_u]Louise[/name_u] not [name_f]Luise[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] not [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Anabel[/name_f], etc
[name_u]Riley[/name_u] not [name_u]Reilly[/name_u], Reighleigh
[name_u]Killian[/name_u] not [name_m]Cillian[/name_m] (though this is growing on me a bit)
[name_m]Klaus[/name_m] not [name_m]Claus[/name_m]
[name_m]Bastien[/name_m] not [name_m]Bastian[/name_m]
There are too many names that I just can’t stand the spelling over but over the years fell in love with. Here are a few that I hated but came to like over the classic spellings.
Just to name a few. I don’t know why but some of these most don’t like. But some names look better with the unique spelling. Like Isabelle looks more completed to me than Isabel same goes with Jessamine and many many others. In my honest opinion, i know Daniele is the French spelling of Daniel, but it looks so off and a misspelled version of Danielle to me.
Some I like are [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] (I don’t like the C forms, although I do think [name_f]Catharyne[/name_f] is totally mythic! I like that one.) and [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] with a soft spot for [name_f]Hailee[/name_f] (All other forms are eh to me).
I’m normally pretty conservative with how I like names spelled but the one exception is Averie. For some reason I just like the way it looks more than Avery.
