As much as I love alliterating names, in this case I personally feel [name_f]Selene[/name_f] goes better. Both are beautiful names though.
I love [name_f]Selene[/name_f] with your last name and I think it is a great name in general, but to my ear [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] also works.
I prefer the sound of [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], but I’m a big fan of alliteration. S/O’s last name begins with D, and we have [name_f]Darcie[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisie[/name_f] on our list, purely because we love the sound (S/O’s first and middle are alliterative too).
As charming as I find [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], I think [name_f]Selene[/name_f] flows better. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a mn picked out? Because [name_f]Selene[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is quite beautiful.
Gosh, this was a difficult one, but I ultimately ended up with [name_f]Selene[/name_f]. I think the subtlety of the shared sounds between the first and last name is wonderful. Both names are gorgeous.
^^ I agree with @danakatherine! I love the much more subtle similarities of [name_f]Selene[/name_f] and your last name, whereas [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is a little more on the nose with alliteration. Plus I think [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is a little more of a mouthful to say with your last name. That said, you can’t go wrong with either! They’re both very pretty.
We were thinking either [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] Meservy or [name_f]Selene[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] Meservy. I do like both names together though. This is our third girl (4th child) and it is amazing how much harder it gets every time! Thank you everyone for your insightful input. I really appreciate it.
Are you pronouncing [name_f]Selene[/name_f] like [name_f]Celine[/name_f] or with the original Greek pronunciation of Seh-lee-nee? If it’s the latter, then I think it’s too sing-songy with the last name and would go with [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]. Otherwise, [name_f]Selene[/name_f] pronounced [name_f]Celine[/name_f] sounds best.
I love how [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] sounds with your last name! Flows beautifully.
